Hey I know this is a old mod, but i just had an idea for a new key that would be helpful with multiplayer.
The new key type is a skeleton key. You can craft it with boneshards and nm fuel. The skeleton key is a one time use key for safes, breaking after use. I can see this being useful if you dont want to give full permission to your safe to another player. Since gold keys are infinate.

In the TIMP menu, Ive found a "master key" item which can open any safe. any clue what the console name of this item is?

would be cool if it worked to keep rats from uncompromising mode out of yer stuff. Might be hard to get it to work though. :demoticon:

How do I destroy the key? Accidentally skraftila 2 keys, 1 tried to destroy - hit with a hammer, set fire to, but did not help. I don't need 2, how do I break it?

I hope to add a mod to set the maximum number of safes to build, so that players can properly save their own private items, instead of taking all resources for their own. This is a cooperative game after all.

look in the description for changing the key's keytype, you can use the same named command on the key as well to change its name.

Using the console, i give each safe and key a personal id so that each safe can be opened with only one key. With the help of:
local c = c_spawn ("gorge_safec"); c.id = "3" c.components.named: SetName ("boat safe") I give the name to the safe.
Can I call the key "boat key" in this way?:GreatTreasureChest:

Did you use the commands listed in the description above? I havent visited this mod in awhile so not sure if that works or not. They all use the named component for their names iirc.

I use the console to create a small event for friends. I would like to give the names of the keys, as well as the safes for them. I tried to name the keys with the console, like safes, but when picking up the key in the inventory, the name was deleted:eagletear:

You don't, it changes its name depending on who owns it. You cannot rename it once its set (unless you're wanting to use console commands).

I would love it if you made it so the owner of that safe can easily hammer it while other players have a hard time, i find it really annoying when i need to move it and i have to use 3 hammers. Yes i know theres settings in the menu for the hammer strikes but that counts for all players who hammer it.

this mod has been working out fantastic, but I'm wondering if when you have time you'd consider making a version of this for the fridge as well. We got a valuable on lockdown but people keep stealing our lunch -_-

They can, by spawning in the masterkey through console ("admin_keyc"). Make sure you delete it afterwards.

Can the admin/owner of the server access others safes?
This would help prevent hoarding of items from public chests.

1. it might be possible, but I'd have to tinker with the idea to be sure. 2. No, while it might be possible to stop other players from hammering, mobs (like bearger) will destroy it just by having the component. Which is needed for the player to be able to hammer it in the first place. 3. Technically possible, however not in a clean manner. 4. Pretty easy to do.

Regardless of whether its possible or not, I'm currently very busy working on other projects. So I can't garuntee that I will implement any of these changes in the near future.

One way of doing 3. and 4. can be for example making recipe needing "building permit". Building permit cannot be crafted and can only be spawned in by the server admin. So the admin could choose who can build and how many by spawning just as many permits

@Leonardo Spookington, would it be possible to add option to: 1. to make *owner* of the safe open it without key, or with key being in invetorny (without the need to target safe with key). 2. to make safe invincible from damage from players / mobs WHILE being able to be hammered only by owner 3. to apply liimit of how many safes per player there can be in the world, 4. to introduce "building permit" making only selected players able to build safe (for example when holiding special item)?

Previous post deleted, there's no mod incompatability, I discovered looking for an alternate tooltip mod that I had an outdated version with a different item glitch. This mod works fantastic with everything I've got so far.

Awesome. I went ahead and loaded the mod and set it to that, just wasn't sure if that was "true" invincible or just player invincible ;)
Also love the adjustable craftability. If I'm making these invincible I want it to be harder to make them, so there's not noobtrash all over the place requiring admin removal. Thanks for this mod

If you set the mod configuration "Safe Durability" to invincible, it cannot be broken, only despawned

Are these safes boss-proof? I'm looking for an option for my server, we have a problem with a moose/goose spawn near the main base I can't get rid of, and noobs not running when the deerclops is spawning. Want a place for my regular players to be able to secure their gear without the nooblets wrecking it and running off with the good stuff.

I just tested it, it works just fine. Klei hasn't changed the components used in this mod in years, and even if they did, its very unlikely it'll be changed in a way that will break the mod. If it does crash one day, just report it and I'll fix it.

No meant a safe that has the same amount of slots like the scaled chest, and maybe you could use the other safe in the gorge for it, but you could maybe ass scales on the sides maybe, just a idea xp
