Would it be possible to make a 'seat' the way you made the 'pillow' that lets a character lay down anywhere? Thinking it would simplify a lot of things to be able to sit on a block rather than needing advanced furniture...

Is there any way you could do one that is just the matress without the back and overhead light? Looking for an option that will work in a sickbay, like a bed on a stand. Multiblock is cool idea but doesn't seem to work right.

remember in large ship a block is not able to occupythe space of another block, so they cant be stacked that way. Only in small ship where a block is smaller can you get the look of bunks ( 5 small = 1 large in length width or height

I'm not able to build the top bunk where it should go on Large ships, I just get the red 'can't place here' outline.

Some findings here: When building bunk beds inside a small ship, make sure there is a square of space beside the beds that is at least 3x3 floor, and a ceiling 6 blocks high. at that space. If these requirements are not met, upon exiting the beds you would be ejected out of the ship.

Love the beds. They are a bit loud, however. Probably because they are based on the cryo pod.

Note: I did not change the original Bunk Bed for those who want the pillow/sheets on the top bunk, but do not want/need top bunk access.

Here's a crazy-ish update.

New Bunk Bed models that allows for the placement of a "Top Bunk" in front. Now you can have a second engineer occupy that long vacent top bunk. Now two engineers can rest in the same blockspace*.

I also migrated my Block Category to "+ AVTech" that should appear below all the Keen default catagories.

*Top Bunk occupies the block in front of the Bunk Bed, but the model is aligned to look as though both engineers are in the same block space. The wield/grind spot for the top bunk is on the floor in front of the bed.

I will see if there is something I can do about where the game wants to place the player, if there is an easy way to define where the game spits you back out it might still be a challenge to find a good place to put it.

Follow-up:
The work around I used involved placing a bunch of blocks OVER the bed and descending one block further so the space it let out into was 6 high.
I don't know why this issue was so inconsistent, but the way the spawn works is that it wants to put the player out on top of the block. Placing blocks over seems to shift the spawn to either side. Just need to make sure there's enough head room on the side you actually want to use.

Having issues with the beds. One I placed works fine in that I get out beside the bed, in the room I placed it in.
In another room, I've tried placing a couple of beds and it kicks me out of the room entirely, putting me on the other side of the wall the beds are placed against. The beds are aligned with head boards along the same wall, 3 blocks in between, small ship. Room height is 5 blocks.
Have tried both beds, and each bed individually.

Okie, there is now two new blocks that look like one large bed when placed next to each other. Each section has it's own conveyor port but the halves have a connection between them so only one half needs to be hooked up.

@Niogenesis Unfortunatly it looks like a problem with the player model. I haven't used that mod in a long time. I loaded it up and even in the vanilla cryochamber that player model sits on the floor (you just can't see it cause it forces your camera to a specific position). I didn't make an special animations for the beds as I haven't figured out that system yet, so I just use the idle animation. Interestingly I also loaded up the Female Engineer model, and they are sunk really far into the bed :S

I dont know if this is a problem with this mod or the character mods but when I use a modded character the posing isnt corect. With the tungston suit it is posed like it is in a flight seat under the sheets so the body is inside the bed but the chest and down is infront of the bed and with another mod that I dont remeber the name of it has a proper laying down pose but it is inside the bed. alough for the seccnod skin after I get back on it is fixed but with the tungston it keeps the wrong pose.

Ok, Large Grid Bunk Bed is up, they are grouped with the Large Double Bed (or under AVTech) and have a two flavors, left side or right side open. It's about 5am here so let me know if anything is borked with them.

@CaptPatrick01 I've not experienced anything like that yet, the game SHOULD place you back where you were before you entered the bed, but if you are still experiencing it I'll see if it's something on my end.

@Niogenesis Sure, I could probably conjure something up, I'm not sure when I'll have another couple free hours to work on it, but when I do I'll work on that.

@Orthopaktis ☦ @Niogenesis: I can do something like a bunk using the small bed model, the only issue is about piping. Large grids don't have small pipes, so I would have to try and find a workable solution to fill that space, and of course that you can't use the second bunk. As I write this I think I have a workable solution for the piping, not much I can do for the usibility of the second bunk. I'm working on my studies first, so when I get some hours free I'll work on that.

Could you please consider making the small bed in bunk form (2x stacked) for Large Ships. I really want this for a military aesthetic, and the small bed actually fits perfectly.

Have just tested on my server. The "enclosed" small bed in survival the person suffocates. The "un covered" in the same spot works fine.

LOD=Level Of Detail
The more polygons a model has, the more resources it requires to render. To reduce resource usage, SE and many other games load lower poly models for blocks that are farther away.
