Planetary Shuttle Ponos-F1 **Vanilla/No Mods**

Description
This is the latest version of my shuttle, the interior was reworked a lot, refinery was removed and replaced with an arc furnace.
Four Cryo Chambers where added and two more "beds" as well.
The top "docking port" was removed in this version(because it isn't that useful in its current state and needs to be reworked).

Additionally, there is now a 1x4 vehicle bay on the starboard side for my small little hover scout.

=============================================================================

The Discordian Offworld Systems(DOS) Planetary Shuttle "Ponos" is designed to serve as a mobile, instant base for the colonization of Planets.
It is equipped with all neccessary life support systems to be almost autonomous once landed and provides the production facilities to establish a first planetary outpost.

The basic version consists of living quarters for 4 crew members but can be easily changed, through removing the production facilities and the ship can then be turned into a surface to orbit shuttle craft for the newly established colony.

The rear facing access ramp is ideal for planetary landings, even though it is not indestructable.
A long range antenna provides the possibility to establish communcations with the mothership from the surface.
The civilian standard Med-Bay provides the medical assistance for most accidents and emergencies which may be encountered on an alien planet and the build-in gravity generator offers the luxury of artificial gravity outside of a planetary gravity well.

Also included into the ships systems are:
- 4 small Cargo Containers
- 1 Arc Furnace
- 1 Assembler
- 1 Oxygen Generator
- 2 Oxygen Tanks
- 2 Hydrogen Tanks
- 4 Cryo Chambers

With a setup like this, the "Ponos" is not only capable of serving its purpose but can also act as an lifeboat in case of emergency.

**ATTENTION**
This ship requires a bit of skill from the person piloting it, carefull thrusting in gravity wells is adviced, since the hydrogen tanks capacity will otherwise not last long!
(this is bound to the maximum speed in-game)
Additionally, working with switching inertia dampeners on and off drops the fuel consumption even more.

A big thanks to Aragath who helped me with some design decisions and is overall a great SE designer.

@mhwyoshi while i really appreciate the offer, i'm sorry but i dont think it will happen anytime soon.
i havent played SE in over a year and at least for the forseeable future, probably wont.

*if* i feel a sudden urge to come back to SE and build again, i will most certainly update both this and my other more "modern" designs to the newest standards.

Please make a modern dlc version with a jump drive as well! I wouldn’t mind helping!

ah, they are fixed spawns then? i have no idea xD
but thanks, i will probably get around doing that this...year :>

Here's the coordinates in the Star System map, if you want to check them out. :)

GPS:near Ponos-F1 + 2 raider drones:1087122:123229:1736478:#FF75C9F1:

The middle one has no drones, while the other two have raider drones that can be seen from a distance.
I just posted a video to demonstrate that the mayday signals are consistent and not random, and I used those as part of the demonstration (in case you want to see what I mean).

well, the SPRT one is an earlier design, which also had some quirks due to being "rushed into production" xD
but nothing too significantly i think.

i can imagine, compared to my interior design, your refit looks almost cramped, not in a bad way though.
but yeah, i *do* like having easy ground access on my ships :>

huh, i actually have never found my ship as an SPRT spawn ingame so far, which is funny to me xD
but yeah, i dont know how the dev set it up to spawn, he never told me but as far as i know, this version right here isnt in the game, but the dev reworked my version a bit for one spawn, so that might be it but yeah, there is basically two versions in the game.

Something interesting I noticed in the game is that there are two arrangements of your ship as Mayday signals. One is the ship all by itself (I think it spawns in 2 small drones when you get too close), the other already has two larger drones that you can spot if you're really careful when you approach. IIRC, one is above, the other below (with respect to the ship's orientation), and about the same distance apart (several hundred meters, IIRC). I found both near Mars, IIRC, although the one in my video was captured near the Earth-like planet.

I'm now wondering if they used both of your versions in the game (since they have two configurations for the Mayday signals).
I found two completely different configurations for Prometheus (one with internal warheads and one with warheads near it on small asteroids, different colors too), so maybe they have two variations of your ship too. :)

I thought the SPRT one was based on this version since it had 4 cryo chambers.

I'm glad you like it. :) It took a while to figure out how to reshape it to fit stuff in while retaining as much of the original shape/style as possible.
Squeezing the full refinery with upgrades in is why the roof is slightly higher. :) I had to add half-blocks to cover both the refinery and the assembler. That worked out for covering the welders too.
I was trying to figure out how to keep the ground access, but figured the reactors were more important, plus the path in was blocked by the refinery's modules.

Funny about the pronunciation, I didn't even realize it was Greek (now I'll need to look that up). :)

i also have to say, i quite like the top-down shape of your convertion because together with the added blocks on the top side it makes for a really nice look.

the original reason for the flat top side of my ponos was that i was designing it as a shuttle craft that would have a cut-out on the underside of a bigger ship but i never got around to finishing the bigger ship as i was a bit frustrated with the proportions of that.
maybe in the future though :>

@glabifrons glad to hear you like it and sure, you can do with it whatever you want, legitimate salvage and all ;)

the one in the game is actually an older version, but then again so are the ones on my workshop since i havent really played space engineers in ages.
but i know what you mean, i really like its shape as well still to this day.

interesting though that you managed to cramp a refinery with 4 modules in there somehow.

you got that "Ponos" pronounciation pretty on spot i would say...then again i dont speak greek either so yeah :>
no ground access though! :p but seriously, interesting convertion...i liked the "somewhat armed" part when its blistering with turrets xD

I wanted to say I really like your design. It's my favorite ship captured from the Space Pirates. I couldn't bear to tear it down, but I play solo so didn't need the multiplayer bits. I wanted a mobile base, so I gutted it and turned it into one. I hope you don't mind. :)
I tried to keep the shape as close to your original design as possible, but did have to expand it just slightly to be able to fit everything in. I used a few of the newer blocks, and one mod (rotary airlock).
My reworked version has:
> Refinery (4x yield modules)
> Assembler w/2 efficiency modules
> 2 hydrogen engines
> 3 o2/h2 generators
> 2 ball turrets w/6 gatling guns each
> 2 interior turrets (underside)
> 3 autocannons
> medical station
> 3x gyros (IIRC, I remember it was one more than original)
> more thrusters (I think I added side and down h2 thrusters)
> 2 reactors
> 2 rotary airlocks
I made a video, in case you're curious. :) (I'm not monetized, so I'm not using this as a plug)
