LyleCorp Optics (Updated 31 Aug 2017)

Description
With all the new updates in Space Engineers, many parts of this mod may not work, I haven't tried to make any changes in this mod of late, and with my permotion at work I don't have the time to learn all the new update changes and figure out how to work them out. I will leave this mod open for others to take on if the choose to work them out. If no one does, and I get time I will try to get this mod back up to where it once was.

Hello Fellow Space Engineers,

I am proud to announce the release of LyleCorp's newest Optics mod. This mod is intended as the replacement for my older Docking Camera mods but instead of replacing the existing mods this is and entirely NEW set of mods.

I am also happy to say bugs in the previous mods due to game updates have been corrected as well as the change in the actual model used thus making placement of these docking cameras much easier than the previous version.

Also the addition of a new overlay that has accurate ranges for 100% zoom as well as normal zoom, the range indicators are from the connector not the pilots location. This gives you greater range in lining up you spacecraft docking connectors with the intended targets.

The following Optics are currently avaliabile:
Small and Large grid

Connector mounted cameras
normal overlay
no overlay
wide angle
wide angle no overlay

Hull Mounted Cameras
normal overlay
no overlay
wide angle
wide angle no overlay

Update 1 10Jan17

F.L.A.T.S. Forward Looking Aquisition and Targeting System.
A special camera mounted on the front of a fighter or other small grid ship that allows pilot to target enemy systems from long range and take them out. I.E. Weapon Systems such as turrets. Update 2 note: Weapons are not as accurate as they once were so targeting some targets are difficult, especially moving ones.

Cameras to come

Drill mounted camera
Grinder / Welder camera

And and entirely new and reworked
HUDs including

Kolt inspired
Alien Gunsight
Gunsight
LCH Hud

Halo style helmet overlay
and many more as time allows.

If you Like this mod please rate and leave a comment below.
Also any suggestions will seriously be looked into as time allows.

Any chance we could get a high resolution in-game overlay? It's looking pretty chunky when playing on 2560x1440. :)

Tex, try Digi's BuildInfo mod to get rotation info and opacity and opaque object overlays: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=514062285

That should help.

@lylesonders, addendum to my last post: I know how to place the block, and where it needs to be to get the correct orientation with up/down etc. The large hull and connector versions however are not visible when they are rotated, and some rotations appear not to work though lack of a model to see make that hard to confirm.

@lylesonders, this is hands down the best docking mod out there. Every small grid ship I've built for the last two years has it and it's fairly easy to place.

The large block camera is a different story though. I just spent the entire evening trying to place one camera on my connector...and it still isn't right. Can't rotate the block to see it's position. Every time I guess at it, it's wrong and I'm either looking back at my hull or the ground. Then you have to grind the whole connector to get rid of it. Rinse and repeat...three hours flys by. I really don't want to think about a different mod at this point.

Are you still developing/maintaining it? I really hope so. I would love to see it fixed.

@lylesonders, First I love this mod you created, i have used this since you first time uploaded to the workshop.

Thou i have a sugestion, since so many have dificulties in placing this awsome camera, is it possible for you to remake it, so there aint an invissible block, but a block with a "camera warning" sign, on the side facing same direction as the actual camera?

The warning sign could be something like:
"I see you, Dave" from: 2001: A space odyssey

I can't get the cameras placed properly, they flicker in and out of existance, perhaps they are based on quantum physics! I managed to get 1 placed to the side of the connector with the flickering camera rendering a block above the connector. This mod is a great idea and sorely needed in this game but rendering bugs are hampering its functionality.
