FCR Sparta II Class Destroyer

The Sparta II was designed and build around the original Sparta class destroyer of the Revolutionary War. With updated armor layout and the installation of the dreaded "six-shooter" spinal-mounted railgun battery, the Sparta II is a serious threat to any capital ship.

They also sport an impressive AA screen and can act as both scout or picket for the main fleet.

The first to see service was the FCRS Sparta (DD-120) in 2199. On one patrol of the Traverse in 2201, the Sparta encountered a Vorat raiding carrier and disabled its reactor at extreme long range before jumping back to safe space.

The FCR Navy has built and fielded many of these ships to patrol the Demilitarized Zone and have even used them to scout deep into the Traverse.

The crews often make derogatory comments about the class' name due to the "spartan" conditions in which they have to operate for long durations.
