Space marines! Have you ever wished you had more firepower? Do your bolters feel more like autoguns? Or worse, lasguns? Not enough armor-piercing explosions for your taste? Wish you had ordinance that could do more than mildly annoy a carnifex?

Well I've got just the thing for you. Introducing the re-made, re-tweaked, re-armed Bolter! Featuring:

* Three weapons currently included, a standard bolter, a storm bolter, and a bolt pistol. All bring the fear of the Emperor to the enemies of the Imperium, with the bolters offering selective-fire capability and full-size magazines, with twice the firepower in the case of storm bolters!
* Functional iron sights, re-aligned to actually match up with your point of aim. You're not an ork, so don't aim like one!
* Explosive impact effects, guaranteed to send the enemies of The Imperium running for cover! And as a bonus...
* Explosive impact effects actually DO something. Want to shoot down that xenos gunship or tripedial war machine? Don't reach for a flashlight, reach for a REAL weapon! Near-misses shall not save your foe.
* Fear not the power of your bolter, for bolter shells have a minimum arming distance.
* CHARGE the enemies of man, bolter fire blazing across the battlefield!

Translation from Imperium-speak: A tweaked version of Steven's bolter and bolt pistols SWEPs, with rebalanced firepower. Gave them a more visually impressive effect via changing the tracer, and added code to generate an explosion if the impact is a certain minimum distance away from you. It also now lets you reload even if a canned animation isn't finished yet, and you can fire while running (though this disables aiming).

Also eventually revived the distinction between the standard bolter and the storm-bolter, with the latter having 60-round magazines and twice the rate of fire, at the expense of accuracy.

The bolt pistol also uses a newer, better-looking model, as the original model seemed very glossy and low-res compared to the bolter's model.

The radius effect is able to damage Striders, Gunships, and certain other bulletproof NPCs. Basically everything except choppers and dropships, which seem to be immune to explosions outright.

Bugs and Other Oddities:

* Certain bulletproof NPCs remain unaffected by this weapon, mainly Hunter-Choppers and Combine Dropships.
* No fancy kill icon, despite having been able to add in a spawn icon and weapon select icon.

Yes. I'd originally beefed it up to 60 based off conflicting info, when it seems that 60 is normal for storm bolters, not normal ones. It's hard to find a consistent canon answer to how much capacity each weapon has.

Wait so since you added Storm Bolters with 60-rounds, did you nerf the capacity of the original bolter?

I figured out it applies to not just the bolt pistol, but also the laspistols in the lasgun mods. This is because they use "v_weapon.Deagle_Parent" for the bone model, if I could figure out how to replace it with an HL2-only version that'd be great.

Oh, I see, the pistol model error is if you don't have CSS.

As a guy without CSS, I can only say one thing:

Thank you. Do tell me if you spot any errors or oddities. A friend of mine stated they're having trouble with the bolr pistol weapon in that the model isn't working for them, having trouble reproducing this.

It's been a long time, but at least I've gone back to this weapon to give it some much-needed updating. More detailed summary:
1. Overhauled the radius damage to actually use a real explosion, with a minimum arming distance built in.
2. Rebalaned damage a bit, in favor of more damage on direct hits.
3. Slight buff to rate of fire.
4. Allow reloading while some animations are still playing.
5. Let the player fire while sprinting, sprinting still disables aiming down the sights.
6. Misc tweaks to the LUA to make things a bit more responsive.

And very belatedly, after I work on some similar touch-ups for the lasgun SWEP, I might see if I can figure out how to get c_hands support working. Not sure yet how it'll work out nor how doable it is, but worth a try.
