@Jules Thank you for all of this! I'm going to try it when I have the time and I'll let you know how it goes :steamhappy:

L4D1 / L4D2 have main .vpk files that pack the game's main files. .vpk is also the format for mods. They're just file packages. .vtf is usually an image file or texture asset, .vmt is what you'll use to edit shader commands. .pcf is the particle file editor format you're looking for.

And yes please! That would be really helpful!

Okay, I'm going to try that tonight. :steamhappy: Is there a tutorial that I can also follow along with? Not saying it in a way to ignore what you said, but I usually like to keep it on hand in case I forgot to come back on here. :nyxno:

Download the Left 4 Dead 2 Authoring Tools. You'll need to use the particle editor, so unpack your game files to have them ready to edit. If I remember the filetype is .pcf or something like that. It's been a while. To unpack files you'll need GCFScape. Unpack all the main files for L4D2 if you plan to be a modder. Keep them in a directory for your reference and only copy the individual files, don't edit directly. L4D2 Authoring tools will allow you to edit the particle files, then you'll pack them in mod structure according to the normal game file directory structure. I added you if you have any further questions, once you get into the particle editor it's a whole different situation of learning the math behind it, but it isn't especially difficult once you figure it out.

Hello! How did you get to replace the blood puddle with your own texture? I was looking for tutorials on how to do the same thing you did - but I'm not able to find any!

One of my favorite mods btw
