Cat's Boots and Gloves

Description

It always frustrated me that there were no armor options that could cover hands or feet. I've had pawns lose fingers and toes more times than I care to recount. I'm sure you've been there.

Even with the excellent VE Armour mod having plate and marine boots and gloves, I wanted more. So I made more.

These sets of boots and gloves provide your pawns with a variety of vanilla-friendly foot and hand protection over various tiers of play. So now your pawns can fight without fear of losing their digits every battle!

The following boots and gloves are added by this mod:

The following DLCs and mods were specifically patched to integrate with Boots and Gloves.

With Odyssey loaded, the following boots and gloves are added:

Additionally, all spacefaring pawnkinds have been patched to spawn with boots and gloves (including the Odyssey starting scenario), so that they can explore without having their hands and feet exposed to the vacuum of space!

With Royalty loaded, the following boots and gloves are added:

Additionally, Empire pawnkinds have been patched to spawn with boots and gloves befitting of their combat tier.

With Impact Weaponry Reloaded loaded (heh), the following boots and gloves are added:

With Spacer Arsenal loaded, the following boots and gloves are added:

With Vanilla Armour Expanded loaded, the following content is patched and retextured:

All boots and gloves have been patched to have relevant armor values and crafting costs if CE is loaded.

Is this CE compatible?
Look man, I made a nice looking infographic for you and everything. But yes, it is.

This conflicts with (insert mod here)!
Let me know what it is and I'll see if I can patch it.

Is this save game compatible?
Yep, but preexisting pawns won't get boots and gloves.

Can I suggest a pair of boots and gloves to add?
Sure! I already have some ideas that I want to act on already, such as Bean's boots and gloves and Royalty stuff.

Pawns with prosthetics can't wear boots or gloves!
I know, and its terribly tragic, which is why I recommend Prosthetic No Missing Body Parts or Medical System Expansion 2, so even your bionic pawns can bask in the glory that is wearing boots and gloves.

Why do the heavier power armor boots and gloves not provide stat maluses?
Well, they have fancy futuristic mobility and precision equipment that make up for their bulkiness. Also, the game already punishes you hard enough for not using bionics, I'm not going to add on to that.

The thumbnail and basically all art assets (besides the mod/DLC icons in some of the infographics) were made by me. Yep, I learned how to draw. However, that does not mean that this was made alone.

A HUGE thanks to DetVisor for helping me out, as he provided me valuable art advice and critique when making the sprites. Without him, this mod would not have been possible. He also provided valuable advice on how to make the thumbnail and mod icon. Check out his mods HERE.

Another HUGE thanks to Elseud for helping me out, as he helped immensely with the infographics for this mod. Without him, they would not have looked nearly as good, thats for sure. Check out his mods HERE.

Other credits

Big thanks to Oskar Potocki and the rest of the VE team for giving me the ok to use the VE logo for the infographics, as well as being cool with me retexturing and rebalancing VE Armour.

Thanks to ThatBartGuy and Sir Van for advice.

Odyssey and Royalty icons are made by Ludeon Studios.

CE icon is from the Combat Extended mod.

Check out Bean's boots and gloves mod here, which adds more boots and gloves that have the fortune of not overlapping with mine.

@Alerios it may be another mod causing this issue then, do look through your modlist and see if there could be any conflict
Alerios 28 Sep @ 1:17pm
If by "under" you mean, after VE armor, then yes that's exactly what I did, especially since in the load order your mod is red if I put it before VE armor.
CatLover366  [author] 28 Sep @ 10:59am
@Alerios did you load it in the correct order, because that issue is known to me, and I implemented a fix that can be avoided by loading this mod under VE armor. Also, the empire nobles will be taken care of in a future update.
Alerios 28 Sep @ 10:03am
And the Empire nobles don't have eltex boots and gloves. They have no shoes to wear.
Alerios 28 Sep @ 10:02am
Btw, it looks like the mod enters in conflict with Vanilla Expanded Armor for the Empire pawns (champions). Before adding the mod, the champions were having plate boots. When adding your mod, the champions suddenty don't have feet armor anymore, not even yours. The troopers got their plate armor boots replaced by recon boots.

Awesome mod thanks

@Life_Beyond_Rose yes, but it does offer more options for you. Also, CE does not have flak gloves and boots, so that is a pretty big use case.
Life_Beyond_Rose 26 Sep @ 10:57am
In CE environment, pawn cannot wear these amazing boots and gloves with armors (marine armor etc) simultaneously, because CE add foot coverage , is that truth ?:steamsad:

@TrollofReason it is intentional that certain boots and gloves only affects carry stack size. Also, that stat has no pertinence on how big of a weapon a pawn can hold, just how many items they can haul.
TrollofReason 25 Sep @ 11:53am
Uh, quick suggestion & clarification: There are two things going on in determining what or how much a pawn can hold or carry. It's weird, I know, but as it stands the Crusader gloves & boots are, perhaps, incomplete. "Carry Capacity" determines only how large of a thing a pawn can hold & use. Useful for actually firing a minigun. While "Mass Capacity" is what determines how much stuff a pawn can have in their inventory at once, including their weapon & armor when not drafted, or carrying stuff for trade.

I'm humbly asking for the boots & gloves to give both. XD Because it'd be hilariously good.
