Veritas - Lifestyle Perks Overhaul is a complete overhaul of the Lifestyle perk system found in Crusader Kings 3 designed to encourage build diversity and to add exciting new gameplay options.

  • Veritas - Lifestyle Perks Overhaul reworks all Lifestyles in the game and changes each Lifestyle from a perk tree design to a perk chart design, giving the player the freedom to pursue only the perks that they want. No longer are you required to unlock perks that you do not need.

  • In true RPG fashion, all Lifestyle Perks now have actual skill requirements that must be met before they can be unlocked. These skill requirements range from 5 (Poor) to 25 (Excellent). This means that a character with 5 skill in Stewardship no longer has access to the same amount of Stewardship Perks as a character with 20 Stewardship, and so on.

  • Veritas makes changes to a total of 288 Lifestyle Perks, with at least 126 of these being newly added Lifestyle Perks. Each Lifestyle has been expanded from 27 Lifestyle Perks to 48 Lifestyle Perks.

  • Quando Sumus integration. Several perks have additional effects if both mods are used at the same time.

  • Dynamic skill increase. A skill is improved every five years based on selected Lifestyle. Enabled with game rule. Disabled by default. Previously a feature of Taberna, this game feature has been moved to Veritas.

  • A brand new Personality Trait, acquired through the Diplomacy Lifestyle.

The content of this mod can be seen below.

DESIGN GOALS
  • Each lifestyle perk should feel impactful and special to unlock. No lifestyle perk should feel like a dead perk.

  • Emphasize the difference between skilled and unskilled characters by introducing skill requirements to the game. Highly skilled characters should feel very different to play compared to unskilled characters, and vice versa.

  • Encourage build diversity by removing perk trees and instead adopting a perk chart style design, where a character is only limited by their skill in the chosen Lifestyle. This is further reinforced by Lifestyle Traits now requiring a certain amount of Lifestyle Perks to be unlocked, an amount that is shared across all Lifestyles, allowing the player to freely switch between Lifestyles and unlock perks in other Lifestyles, while still counting towards their desired Lifestyle Trait.

  • Introduce more interesting choices to the game by giving Lifestyle Focuses positive as well as negative modifiers. Consequently, the cooldown to switch Lifestyle Focus has been reduced from 12 months to 0 months.

DISTRIBUTED PERKS

The following vanilla perks are distributed to every playable character in the game. These lifestyle perks no longer require perk investments.
  • Accomplished Forger
  • Bound by Blood
  • Mortal Adoration
  • Confidants
  • Carefree
  • Forever Infamous (No Dread Decay has been moved to Intimidation Focus)

PERK HIGHLIGHTS
5 out of 288 Lifestyle Perks shown.

Veritas alters the game files listed below. Files prefixed with (127) are not completely overridden by the mod; instead, specific objects within them are modified by key name alone.

  • Every game file in \common\lifestyle_perks

  • \lifestyles\00_lifestyles.txt

  • \focuses\(127)_lifestyle_focuses.txt
  • \important_actions\(127)_lifestyle.txt
  • \scripted_triggers\(127)_scripted_rule_triggers.txt
  • \scripted_triggers\(127)_lifestyle_perk_triggers.txt
  • \scripted_triggers\(127)_lifestyle_triggers.txt

  • window_character_lifestyle.gui
  • hud.gui (Veritas only overwrites this to fix a minor interface bug, safe to overwrite or delete if needed)

Veritas also overrides the Raider trait to inject flags for the Spoils of Man perk. This change is also made indirectly. No changes have been made to 00_traits.txt.

Disregard my issue, I realised I've misread that you need to already have the perk for it to work. My apologies!

Note that the Wanderer's Perk doesn't inherit if you abdicate (usually because of an Eastern religion or government)

Similar issue as @Iceciro, not getting the multiple schemes for some reason, even while only using this mod.

Just tried unlocking the pillager trait in the Martial perks, though did not get the trait. Tried resubbing to confirm it wasnt a steamside issue and still the same problem.

@Anchovy This has been fixed. Steam sometimes fails to push updates. Try subscribing to the mod again.

@Iceciro This works fine on my end. Example [i.ibb.co]

@mielo Do you mean that you have 27 unspent Stewardship perk points with nowhere to spend them?

@MR.REVIVAL That's great. Nice work.

It needs an update and for some odd reason. This mod completely breaks gold income collecting.

So I'm seeing some weirdness with like - I have the perk From Over Here, which should give me an extra scheme of both types while traveling, and also Debauchery, which should give me an additional Seduce scheme. This would make me think I could have 3 seduce schemes while traveling, or at least 2 seduce schemes and another Personal scheme - but this doesn't appear to be the case?

@mielo You need a UI mod. I recommend searching for the keyword 'UI' in the workshop. There are many ways to solve this problem. In fact, most players who like to play with mods will install UI mods because many mods are compatible.

just as a quick question: how can we deal with overflow perkpoints? I don't know what to do with 27 stewardship perks.

Hey! I've made a compatch for Sabotage and Subterfuge for this mod. Just wanted to give you a heads-up, since I've always loved your approach.
