I havent' tried that mod, so I can't really say much about it (I think you can temporarily use great shooting/melee genes to make every colonists gain combat expertise though)
Stronger enemies option makes Empire psycasters wear armors. Other than that this mod doesn't change psycasters' appearance, so you can turn off that option.

Thanks, just updated the mod for that.
(Yeah they decided to "repurpose" some genes and xenotypes for completely new ones under the same defName instead of removing and adding. I made new patches conditional so that compats for legacy WVC still works, if you want to use it for mid-save games.)
