Disclaimer
As a fair warning, this moves the genetic portion of the game later down the line. I personally think this is a good thing and lengthens the intrigue of a colony, but if you disagree maybe don't get this mod.

Best paired with
- Animals Category, removes the genetics category and makes a more general one for animals, eliminating clutter.

FAQ
  • Save game compatible? | Should be basically fine. If you add it post research, then things'll just be a little wonky in terms of progression but you should be fine in terms of like the fabric of the game itself.

Compatibility
  • Even though this mod replaces every function of it, Is it Xeno or Animal Genetics is compatible.
  • Anything in my fernworld modpacks
  • Practically any mods. This is just patches.

New mod idea: Remove the "Powers" tab from pawns that have not received any. I'm talking about the superpowers from VFE: Ancients.

@darkside767 Got it, thanks for your help. Will push now.

@ferny the research bench error is at the bottom of the "vegenetics_patch.xml" where it adds the hitechresearchbench to the geneprocessor. The original biotech research def already requires the hi tech bench. Removing that operation class fixes the red error. This time I tested it before commenting.

Sorry, I may have shot my mouth off too soon, but hopefully it fixed something else. maybe...

@darkside767 Fixed, thanks. Sorry for all these sloppy thingies

the error about the research bench is because the 1.5 section of your loadfolders.xml has "<li IfModActive="VanillaExpanded.VGeneticsEMoreLabStuff">Mods and Shit/VGE More Lab Stuff</li>" listed twice.

I took a bit of time and figured out the issue with Research Tree.

The xml to fix in vegenetics_patch.xml is too long to put here, so I have added it to a pastebin.

https://pastebin.com/nfqggks8

This is likely a copy\paste error. The description tag takes a string not a list of strings, resulting in a null description which apparently borks Research Tree. Easy fix.

Second one is harmless, first one is an oversight. I'll look into it.

An error I get is " XML Verse.ResearchProjectDef defines the same field twice: requiredResearchBuilding. "
It's because <requiredResearchBuilding> is defined twice in resplicecore_defs.xml file. Could this be related to ResearchTree issue?

Another one is " [Progression: Genetics] Patch operation Verse.PatchOperationReplace(Defs/AchievementsExpanded.AchievementDef[defName="GR_AchievementMyFirstLab"]/label) failed "
I don't even have achievements expanded mod. Probably "MayRequire" attribute doesn't work or something is wrong with caching on my end.
