Description
Fee Fi Fo Fum, Cheeseburger Apocalypse has only begun!

This here is my very first model project, and it's of my favorite character in the game - Coach. I've had to learn a lot about modelling to get this done. I've been through it all: the bone-parenting, the weight paint, the qc editing, the compiling... After 2 months in development, hopefully, it will have been worth the weight...uhh, I mean wait.

It started out as a simple project for my friend Roiditron77, who originally came up with the idea of sticking the bandolier from Beta Louis onto Coach, as well as sticking a whistle onto him. The entire look of this mod is based on his Slightly Redesigned Coach. I guess you could call this one Majorly Redesined.

While making this mod, I wanted to include a little something from every itiration of Coach throughout development, as well as modernizing him a bit. From his early Concept Art to his Beta mascot logo, creating the Ultimate Coach.

The backstory behind the outfit is simply "What if Coach had the foresight to prepare for the apocalypse?" Instead of waiting around to find out, Coach bailed straight from his job as a PE teacher, even forgetting to take off his whistle, as well as "borrowing" a helmet from his school's supply, heading to the nearest gun shop. However, he wouldn't have enough money for a shotgun an so he settled for a few shotgun shells on a bandolier. I'm not sure where the kneepads would come from, perhaps, also from the school supplies but he may have also made them from some metal junk.

The jigglebones on the whistle were a separate pain in my ass, so you better enjoy them >:(

A lot of you have asked if I plan on doing other survivors. So far, I've only got an idea for Ellis, so you can stop asking now.

Features:
  • Vibrant outfit with matching helmet and improved normal map
  • Shiny whistle with jigglebones
  • Lobby, Portait, Incap Icons
  • Beta Bandolier with jigglebones, Beta metallic kneepads
  • Slight details of injuries (bandage on nose and fingers)

Incompatible with face, body retextures. Compatible with eye textures

@varg

It's pretty tough to do ngl. I usually get custom body textures to work by setting up another game directory in the gameinfo txt file (in the 'searchpaths' section, similar to left4dead2, left4dead2_dlc1, update folders etc. But you gotta place the new folder name above all others in the searchpaths, so that it reads it as the most important one

I then pack all the things I need into a vpk file and name it 'pak01_dir'. This basically makes it so that the game treats this new folder as another update and makes it load no matter what, which makes it also load in hlmv.

It's also how you get mods to work on official versus servers but shhhh it's a secret ;>

I always found it kinda stupid that survivors wear very little protection when they could just get any common object and use it as an armor. I get that they might be in a rush or that the character designs look better that way but if you think about it, it makes no sense in-universe. This mod fixes that issue and I love it.
