Aliens: Colonial Marines - M39 Submachine Gun

Description
"The standard-issue submachine gun of the futuristic crayon eaters, or at least it used to be, before it got decanonized lmao."

The M39 Submachine Gun is a caseless (originally cased)* submachine gun developed by the Armat Battlefield Systems in the 2170s and was formerly used as a standard-issue SMG by the futuristic crayon eaters: United States Colonial Marines and the mercenaries of the mega-corpo endless screwups and obsessed with xenomorphs that is Weyland Yutani. It's most notable appearance is in a conflict where USS Sephora marines and the Wey-Yu PMCs had a mild disagreement over the USS Sulaco, which ended up both ships exploding and the marines stranded in LV-426.

The gun itself is outfitted with a dull yellow painted furniture with a lefty charging handle that also serves as a ejection port for fired cartridges, a box magazine that can carry 48 rounds but because L4D2 it was shoved with two more rounds, unusable ghost ring sights with glowy bits on it, a non-functional ammo counter and a buttstock that looks like it'll hurt your shoulders more than helping recoil control.

The rate of fire is this thing is crazy high even without it's magazine accelerator mod which makes it fuller auto.

It uses 9mm caseless (or cased) rounds that for some inexplicable reason, gives off way more extreme recoil than even the Pulse Rifle (and the Mk.2 for that manner)'s 10x24mm caseless, which one would wonder what in the hell they outfitted these rounds with despite that it doesn't offer much power compared to said rifle.

And by the way, this was supposed to be a canon weapon used by the crayon eaters, before it got decanonized and it's name taken over by Aliens: Fireteam Elite's very own M39 SMG, and yet this version appears in Dark Descent's reveal trailer in a split second so idfk.


The quite forgotten M39 Submachine Gun from the 2013 iteration of Aliens: Colonial Marines, serving as a replacer for the tier 1 weapon: the IMI Uzi (SMG).

TRIVIA

1. Did you know that Gearbox sabotaged Colonial Marines for Borderlands 2 and did almost nothing during development of the game? 90% of the thing may as well be a Timegate, Nerve and Demiurge game.

2. This gun was originally going to have cartridges flying out of the gun, if the shell tinkering sound effect every time you fire it isn't of any indication, yet it was removed in the game.

anyone else having graphic problems with this gun ? its really cool . but for some reason its super duper shiny . and i have the other mod thing installed that was supposed to fix that .

I've pushed a minor update to the mod that fixes the issue, sorry it took so long, procrastination at it again.

Hiya! Fantastic model. Love the animations. Also having the same issue as Aduubo. The audio is only coming from my right ear. Just kinda started with my right ear. Doesn't change no matter the level.

The weapon being shiny is because I'm terrible at VMT editing and my phong setup is horrible. Its by far the least favorite thing to do when it comes to making mods like this.

I went into a mod testing map called Tumtara and played around with the gun. I also don't know if this was intentional, but the weapon also appears strangely shiny. Is it a texture bug or nah?

Omg the lord and savior that's bringing Alien weapons to L4D! Super eager to see the Pulse Rifle at some point!
