Not to mention that they could have hired any other developer to do the port. What you are saying implies that you really do think that if it weren't for GearBox's shitty port, we would have never gotten Halo on PC, which is not at all the case.
Microsoft was contractually and legally obligated to release Halo on Mac computers 2 years after it came out on Xbox, or they would be on legal problems with Apple. So if Gearbox wasn't available at the time, Microsoft would have still had to find another developer to make the port before the deadline.
