Description
CONFEDERATE CASEMATE IRONCLAD "ATLANTA" 1862

(Fictional, not to be confused with the CSS Atlanta of 1861)
Built up from the charred scraps of a steam frigate that was scuttled by the Union, the CSS Atlanta was supposed to finally break down the blockade that's been starving the Confederates of resources. The hull had an iron structure with sloped sides placed on top of it to protect the ship from incoming fire, and had a total of 10 guns, with the fore and aft guns set on pivots to aim out of any of three gun ports. with a somewhat slow top speed of 10 knots due to salty machinery, and a turning radius comparable to oil tankers, the the hideous brute of a ship set out to break down the blockade, but was met by the USS Manhattan first. The two clumsy ships fought hard, but Atlanta slowly began to be broken down, and eventually was defeated and sank.

HOW TO START

1: Head to the engine room in the middle of the ship
2: On the boiler turn the damper all the way up
3: Light boiler
4: Repeat on the rest of the boilers
5: Once steam pressure is up, you should be good to go

SINK SWITCHES

The sink switches are located in the Captain's cabin, towards the stern of the ship

1: A hole opens opens up in the keel and the ship will go down partially by the bow

2: Choppy seas slowly finds its way into the ship and it slowly goes down

The waves required for 2 don't have to be too big. Once they start splashing in the forward/aft gun ports water should slowly find its way into the ship

EXTRA NOTES

Being designed mainly for coastal and river work, heading out in rough seas is not recommended

Yes, I know the turning is weak. That is intentional

Can be run on low physics setting

Inspired by the CSS Virginia (1862)

Right, found the problem and just fixed it, but it may take a bit to update in the workshop downloads

ahh, I think I may know what's going on with those boilers. Just give me a few minutes to test

For the boilers, running it for about 10 minutes and then the boiler shut off. I was at north sawyer island, and only a little bit later after respawning when fighting my friend in another ship did I have it happen again.

As for armor, I guess that sounds right as the devs haven't added much in the way of armor other than excessive amounts of blocks.

Any info as to the conditions and/or time it takes for the boilers to randomly shut off? I just let the ship run for well over an hour and clocked in 4,900 revolutions on the engine register and it never shut off for me.

As for the armor, I'm still trying to figure out how to make decently functioning armor in this game. I've tried multiple ideas to no avail. I only just recently discovered the use of microcontollers placed backwards to be able to avoid flooding, but on a ship like this, I don't immediately see how I'll be able to effectively implement that.

And as for adding a broadside salvo switch, I'm just not really a fan of those.

I seem to still have issues with the boilers shutting off randomly.

Think you could try slaving all the broadside guns to one control point near the helm, and something similar for the rear gun so it can be operated easily by a 1 man crew?

Was there any worth in adding a space between the armor plating and the inner hull of the superstructure? The armor doesn't really block any kind of damage.

@Depressedguy Maybe the boilers ran out of coal?
