Description
AMERICAN CIVIL WAR IRONCLAD MONITOR "MANHATTAN" 1862

(Fictional, not to be confused with the USS Manhattan of 1863, which was also a monitor...)
Built as a hurried response to the Confederates building the CSS Atlanta, the USS Manhattan was a ship unlike anything else. It had no masts, a freeboard measuring in mere inches, and a revolutionary rotating gun turret, which meant the cannons could aim independently from the ship. A complete lack of superstructure and telescoping funnels meant that the guns were able to fire at any point on the ship with out shooting itself (except maybe the flagpole). The Manhattan met the Atlanta which was sailing in to break down the Union blockade, and after a very long battle, the Atlanta finally succumbed to Manhattan's firepower and sank. The Manhattan then proceeded to sail around and defend the Union's waters. The low freeboard, however, meant that the ship could only sail around rivers and harbors, and she may or may not have had to learn that lesson the hard way...

HOW TO START

1: Head to the engine room at the back of the ship
2: turn the dampers all the way up
3: Light the boilers
4: Once pressure is up, you should be good to go

SINK SWITCHES

The sink switches are located in the Captain's Cabin, as a keypad on the side of the desk

1: The keel is damaged at the bow and the ships goes down by the head

2: Rough seas slowly finds its way into the ship and it slowly sinks

3: An explosion damages the port side of the ship and she sinks VERY quickly

EXTRA NOTES

Because the turret is steam driven, you need steam pressure for it to move

The two seperate turret controls are only so that you can control the turret from either side without having to crawl over the guns. You don't need two people on each control at the same time

Being a small ship with a low freeboard, going out in rough waves will not end well

I have no idea why the turret slowly drifts to the side on its own when on low physics. I tried fixing it as best I could, but it still does it slightly

There is a small chance one of the guns might get jammed and not move out. Pitching the cannon up or down should free it (I also have no idea why it does that)

Can be run on low physics setting

Inspired by the USS Monitor (1862)

Basically funnels that can tuck into themselves to be shorter like a telescope. The switch for it is in the engine room above the boilers
