Description
WORN-DOWN AUSTRALIAN TRAMP STEAMER "CARNARVON" 1871

(Fictional)
By the time the SS Carnarvon reaches its Australian service in 1871, the ship was, well... a bit tired. Nonetheless, there was still plenty of (stretched out) life left in her. Originally a paddle powered cargo steamer, by time the ship gets to this point, that outdated machinery had been disposed of and replaced with a screw propeller, a trunk engine from a Crimean War gunboat, and a new high pressure boiler, which, pokes out of the deck a little bit... The Carnarvon came out of this refitting as something of a mess of random machinery that was mostly secondhand. She didn't even have a condenser! The increasingly aging and weather-beaten ship then operated on the coast of Western Australia as a tramp steamer that also carried a couple of passengers, however some people took one good look at the ship and politely refused to sail. Probably for the better...

HOW TO START

1: Head into the engine room, from the entrance in front of the helm
2: Turn the damper all the way up
3: Light Boiler
4: Once steam pressure starts going up, you should be good to go
-Speed is sort of directly linked to pressure. The higher the pressure, the faster you'll go, but you can still chug along at decent speed at low pressure.
-There's no autocoaler, so pick up a shovel! (or just turn on infinite fuel I suppose)

SINK SWITCHES

The sink switches are located in the Captain and First Mate's Cabin, in the forward compartment of the ship.

1: The ship begins to slowly take on water in the engine room, and eventually something interesting will happen.

2: The ship will slowly flood throughout in rough waves. They don't have to be too high, just enough to start appearing on the deck.

-Keeping the boiler running is recommended for an interesting sinking.

-Explosives are used, so having the weapons DLC is recommended, but not required.

-When switches 1 or 2 are enabled, very large waves will cause the engine room skylight and the cargo hatch to cave and and sink the ship almost instantly.

EXTRA NOTES

-I have no idea how the engine runs at high speed with no wobble either, it just happened to be perfectly balanced.

-I made the engine as damage-proof as possible, so even with the engine revving up to 200+ RPM due to the screw flying out of the water, it shouldn't damage itself even on low physics.

-Unsurprisingly, being a small coastal steamer, she's not very well suited for extreme weather.

-Although the ship is hard to actually capsize, the ship can list extremely easily from unbalanced weight. So things like one lifeboat lowered while the other is still attached can cause the ship to list significantly.

-Can be operated on low physics setting.

i like the fake gunports painted on the sides to deter pirates, as if there's anything worth stealing in the hold

Did a poll in my server on whether to add the crates or not, at fist more people voted yes and I quickly uploaded it last night but by morning the votes shifted so I removed them

Were the crates removed?

perhaps

You ever thought of building a NS Savannah-inspired ship? I think that'd be a cool project, since its still technically a steam vessel.

Hey unbreakify wake up Carnarvon's been fixed

I'll probably get to it after Exeter. Either way it won't be long since there's only 3 sinkable ships left to fix
