1. Create your foundation
Firstly, you want to create the foundations for where you will place your storage boxes.
2. Create a raised foundation
Next, build a raised foundation behind or next to the original foundation. This will not snap to the grid and will need to be placed freehand.
Here I used a wall, to the left, to help line it up at half height and at the edge of the original foundation.
3. Place your first layer of storage
Now, you will want to place your first layer of storage.
Here I have placed two boxes.
4. Build a floor
Using the raised foundation, you will now need to place a floor above the first layer of storage.
5. Place your second layer of storage
On top of the newly placed floor you will now place your second layer of storage.
6. Finishing touches
Finally, you will add the finishing touches to complete your build. You can remove the raised foundation.
Here I have added a wall to the back using the original foundation and placed a roof on top of this as well as removing the raised foundation.
Useful and additional information
Can you use any storage boxes for this?
This will work with all storage boxes in the game currently.

Can you stack more than twice?
You are able to go above stacking twice if you want to.

Please feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I will address accordingly :)

Use the small stair piece instead, gives you halfway up the wall with no effort at all.

Love the way your work looks. Makes it look so much more realistic than something that looks and feels as if magickally held up in place. I've been working on making something similar for my base, including a pen for when I don't take my mount with me.

There is a more simple method - just place small floor pieces to the wall above your boxes.

This is actually a good build guide props to the author. The garlic boxes however stack on their own but for aesthetics this guide works too

@Sythalin I am still unsure why you are so pressed on this guide and why you are still throwing such negativity.

Although there may be a simpler method of doing this, as already stated this is my preferred method. This is the way I learnt how to stack storage at the time and I wanted to share that to help out other players of the game.

This guide has nothing to do with farming awards - I average about 6-8 hours every 2 weeks in total play time on Steam these days, I am not fussed about my guide having an icon next to it. I created the guide with the aim to assist other players, nothing else.

The game has the means built in to make shelved storage without the need for "fancy" foundation placements to "line up" shelving. The floors can literally snap to the middle of the walls by default. Hell, they can snap at 1/4 height as well. And to top it off, you can even snap the chests so they're evenly spaced. All by default, without any tricks, by using the super fancy controls right there in the bottom right. If this drawn out process is your "preferred method", you're literally making it harder for yourself for no reason.

Don't worry though, you're not the first and won't be the last to make guides for simple mechanics in a game to try and farm up awards. But let's not kid ourselves that this is exactly that - award bait. I know it, you know it, and anyone who reads it with any ounce of intelligence will know it as well.
