Description
"Sleek, Deadly, Like a scimitar, ready to carve a bloody path through your enemies."

Being the last of the JP-series aircraft, the JP-7 marks the end of an era.

After the catastrophic losses suffered by the Invader model during the early stages of the 4th Corporate War, Vector dynamics desperately needed a new fighter to compensate for our critical lack of Air-Superiority/Air-Dominance fighters. The JP-7 Scimitar was quickly developed and produced to fill in that particular role. It's fast, agile and much more modular than the Invader, though it is still rather lackluster compared to Vector Dynamics' future models.

Somewhat ironically, the JP-7 suffered pretty much the same fate as the the JP-6: despite its improved mobility and speed, the lackluster performance of its original weapons loadout made it a sub-optimal Air-Dominance Fighter. However, it's improved modularity and general performance overhauls made it an excellent multirole fighter, capable of tacking a wide variety of missions.

After the 4th Corporate War, Vector Dynamics retired most of our JP-7 fleet in exchange for the much more capable F/X-series. That being said, the Scimitar's adaptability made it a popular export option. Nowadays, it's common to see JP-7s flying the flag of some Middle-Eastern petrostate or Southeast-Asian island nations. This particular JP-7 is a slightly-modernized version featuring an overhauled HUD and modernized missiles.

Flight Characteristics
The JP-7 Scimitar is the first Vector Dynamics airframe equipped with Vector Dynamics' in-house Universal Flight Control System, granting it autopilot functions and improved stability. Furthermore, the JP-7 uses a pair of HEXFLARE C-1 Cordium-Boosted Turbofan engines instead of the unreliable prototype IMPULSE drives, allowing it to reach a top speed of 357m/s in lower atmosphere.

The JP-7's sleek silhouette does come with a significant downside: despite the improved efficiency of HEXFLARE-series engines, a measly 12,200L interal fuel tank meant that, similarly to the Invader, the Scimitar can only sustain up to 7 minutes of flight in maximum throttle. Furthermore, the Scimitar does not have a microfusion reactor, making the prospect of running out of battery a real issue.

Armaments
The original JP-7 models carry an extremely outdated and lackluster arsenal made up of underperforming Vector Dynamics in-house missiles and outdated NNTC missiles. Thankfully, this JP-7 is a modernized version, packing a much more capable set of weapons.
The JP-7 comes with 126 chaff countermeasure launchers to defend itself against incoming missiles, though its speed and turn-rate alone are enough against lower-level missiles.

Notably, the JP-7 is not EHCS integrated, instead opting for an in-house FCS that allows more munition loads.

Systems
The JP-7 still features the quad-MFD system from the KJ-74 as its primary displays. The modernized JP-7 uses the most up-to-date variant of the HEVS HUD. Similar to the JP-6, landing gear control, canopy control, camera-steering and FCS are made in-house by Vector Dynamics' internal R&D team.

The JP-7 also comes equipped with an ejection seat. But it is recommended to merge the ejection seat with the main body and connect the seat composite directly to the various microcontrollers due to stormworks' incomprehensible subbody physics.

Due to this vehicle being an outdated antique, you do not need to read our Terms and Conditions, nor do you need to sign our Non-Compete Agreement. In fact, you are welcomed and encouraged by Vector Dynamics to refit and upgrade the JP-7 to modern standards, though credits to the original is appreciated.

That being said...Vector Dynamics is not responsible for any damage, casualty or loss of resources caused by:
Attempting to mount munitions incompatible to our existing hardpoints;
Attempting to fire mounted munitions while doing high-G maneuvers;
Reckless behaviors of the pilot;
Reckless behaviors of the pilot caused by the false sense of security provided by our auto-flare features.
Reckless behaviors of the pilot caused by the false sense of security provided by our ejection-seat function.
Attempting to use this aircraft as a submarine. This time, neither the canopy nor the engines are water-tight!
Attempting to use this aircraft outside its intended purpose. (I mean, you can try, but our buddy Dave filed for bankruptcy due to maintenance cost and fuel costs after trying to use it as a crop duster, so do it at your own risk.)

Vector Dynamics is also not responsible for any war crimes, human right violations, criminal activities or acts of terrorism caused by the use of our product. Vector Dynamic is also not responsible for any world-ending events caused by mentally unstable mercenary/peacekeeper pilots using our product. Remember, If it's out of our hands, it's none of our business anymore!
