Ride for Ruin: A Lord of the Rings mod

Ride for Ruin transports you to the apocalyptic final years of Lord of the Rings’ Third Age. Control one of Middle Earth’s iconic countries and try to save the world– or plunge it into eternal darkness.


-Engage in the world-spanning clash of the War of the Ring: defeat the Dark Lord once and for all, or lead his armies to enslave the world for all eternity!
-A lore-accurate, detailed, and beautiful custom map of Middle Earth
-Custom focus trees, decisions, characters, systems, and ideas for Gondor, Rohan, Isengard, Mordor, Dunland, Dorwinion with over seven years of content for each nation
-A reworked technology system to better reflect the Medieval setting
-News events for many of the iconic scenes from the Lord of the Rings trilogy
-A skill based system to capture or destroy the One Ring

Fight the great battles of The War of the Ring as Rohan, Isengard, Mordor, or Gondor.
✅ 1.1: Villain or Victim
Reclaim your ancient birthrights as the fractured tribes of Gwaithurium, or sway the fierce Dunlendings to your cause with improved Isengard content.
⚙️ 1.2: All the East is Moving part A
Win the election for Realm Master of Dorwinion and reform the realm into a republic or hereditary monarchy. Gather all dark creatures under your shadow with new systems for Melkorism. Immerse yourself in a completely reworked technology tree and cavalry designer.
📖 1.3: All the East is Moving parts B & C
Steer the squabbling Rhûnnic Khaganate, balance the scheming dynasties of Dale, or build grand halls beneath the mountains of Erebor.
📖 1.4, 1.5, or 1.6: Mirkwood
Navigate the War in the Woods & on the River as the Elves of Mirkwood or Lothlorien, the fell creatures of Dol Guldur, the Beornings and Woodmen, or even the Brown Wizard Radagast
📖 1.4, 1.5, or 1.6: Mountains
Bring death and terror to the North as the hosts of the Misty Mountains, or reclaim the fallen kingdoms of the Dwarves
📖 1.4, 1.5, or 1.6: Sands
Sail and raid with the Corsairs, fight for the rival sons of Sultan Saludân as the Haradrim, unite the tribes with the Variags, or defend the desert frontier with the Harondorihm. Immerse yourself in naval units re-skinned to fit the setting.
📖 1.7: Witch King's Bane
Reforge the Northern Kingdom of Arnor, finish the job as the resurgent evil of Angmar, or ignore the world as Hobbits.
📖 2.0: The Ring
Take the mantle of Ringbearer, or seize the Ring for yourself as one of the many countries that will interact with the new Fellowship focus tree. Experience the game anew with completely re-worked content for the majors, including Gondorian feudalism
