Description
Frostine is a fallen queen, betrayed by the fire empire in her thirst for power in the ice kingdoms. She relies on zoning and ice weapons to defeat her foes. Revenge fuels her quest, her cold status causes enemies to take additional damage!

NEW UPDATE 9/22/2022!

This update is a big one, friends! Frostine's gameplay has been modified a bit more, a bunch of her normals have been adjusted to fit a faster combo based fighter, while her base stats are a little less floaty, and she has an easier time fast falling now. This change was inspired by a recent bounty hunter getting reworked for a mod of a popular platform fighter ;)
- Statue now stuns on detonation
- Statues can now be thrown in different directions like kragg rock!
- Fspecial is now less laggy but acts as a poking tool in air instead of an inward sending whip.
- Fspecial is no longer active on the entire whip length. You have to hit around the head of the whip in order for it to hit. This encourages the frostine player to be a little more precise on hitting these, and offers the enemy player a chance to close the gap to punish.
- Fspecial on ground is replaced by a tether style grab! You can throw the opponent upwards, downwards back or forward!
- Jab is now more combo friendly!


NEW UPDATE 8/11/2022!

Frostine has a new rework! Based on feedback from the community, a few moves have been changed or replaced.
- Nair is now a strong early hit and a weak late hit kicking attack. Might be familiar to those who are a fan of a certain space faring bounty hunter!
- Uspecial has been reworked to be a multihit similar to a fan favorite fiery swordsman! Additionally, if you have not hit any enemies and hold down the special button, you gain access to a projectile firing attack, as frostine assaults her foes from above with icey knives!
- Dspecial has been rebalanced for competative play. The change gives frostine a weaker ice statue durability wise, as it will now be destroyed by a single hit and will not activate as long as frostine is in hitstun, but increases it's damage in return. Grounded dspecial now can be double tapped to throw immediately!

Gimmick:
Cold
Every third frost missile, ustrong, and dspecial clone will cause the enemy to gain the Cold status. This means that as long as they have this status, attacks against them deal bonus damage!


Specials:
Nspecial - Frost Missiles
Frost missiles are projectiles that control the stage well, causing cold status on every third missile!


Fspecial - Ice Tether
This long range weapon can harass from a distance, sending inward on the top of the whip. When holding fspecial, she can throw ice clones deployed.

Uspecial - Vengeance Blade
This rising slash has a powerful outward sending attack at the start, but grows weaker as she ascends.



Dspecial - Ice Statue
Ice statue is a deployable clone of Frostine. She can throw the clone with dspecial, and will cause cold status on hit.



Stage
Queen's Revenge
Once a noble and bright outpost, this ruin is a regular hunting ground of Queen Frostine and her crew. preying on soldiers of the Fire Empire, she sends ships to their doom to sate her vicious disdain for the nation of embers.

this is one of those magical characters I love to play and to play against as much or more than my favourites in the rivals 2 contest. very fun style of zoner :)

Thank you for the notes, but I'm currently holding off on explicit nerfs or buffs at the moment because she is being tested for legality in certain WS brackets like FTL. She's legal in Workshop Elites and Round-A-Bouts, if you were interested in seeing how she performs in those ecosystems against those characters.

One other thing, I'm not the biggest fan of her "Cold" mechanic. Just doing extra damage for landing a few attacks in pretty boring. It doesn't even change how you approach the opponent whereas Zetter's fire status means you want to land a Strong to capitalize on the massive knockback boost.

If it were to have a similar passive effect and big pay-off to Zetter's fire, perhaps it could increase the start-up of the opponent's attacks by a small amount (10-20%, rounded up) to make the opponent vulnerable to Frostine going on the offensive. If that isn't possible it could also simply reduce the speed of their movement. And for the big pay-off, if the opponent gets hit by the Ice Statue's explosion (and maybe some other stuff like U-Strong?) while afflicted, they're frozen. Think Olympia's crystallize but rather than breaking upon hitting the ground they're stunned until a short time has passed or they've been hit by an attack.

Continuing what Enomilli said on balance, I think her d-air also comes out a bit too fast for how strong it is. Could probably use a bit more start-up.

Also have another suggestion for deepening the mechanics of her moves around her statue. Namely, it would be cool if you could detonate it in a way other than launching the opponent into it, I'm thinking hitting it with her projectiles could make it explode allowing you to punish opponents who approach it carelessly and set traps to cover certain movement options or recoveries.

N-Special's normal version and U-Special's daggers could both do this, and empowered N-Special could do the same but have the ice bat continue after hitting the statue whereas the normal frost missile and ice daggers will be destroyed upon hitting the statue.

Her jab should not kill. I've killed people at almost 76% because of the knockback and angel it sends at. Having less knock back but keeping the angle would allow for you to follow tech chases or be good at the ledge.

Her back air is also too strong for how fast and easy it is to land. It should be more of a combo tool with less knock back but set up into dairs or uairs.

Her forward air's hitbox is too big and the knockback angle is too unfavorable. Giving it a smaller hitbox (it has teleported people into its hitbox many times) and knocking people up and diagonally would be great.

Last her down tilt is too fast with not enough end lag to justify it killing. It being a set up would be better.

She's very floaty with a good recovery so her playstyle should lean toward off stage aggression or chasing kills as opposed to getting kills out right much like how it is for Samus in her own games.

Being this versatile with this much ko power is too much for all she has already.

@The Ogrelord i actually agree! We're planning on eventually giving her a grab system on ground and more throw directions for statue! I can't say when it'll come out, but keep your ears peeled!

Really great character, feels like she'd fit right in with the base cast with how she's derivative of Samus but puts her own twist on things.

The one thing I think would be nice to see is more control over how you throw the ice statue. Not being able to turn around after grabbing it to throw it backwards makes it a bit awkward, and it would be great if you could throw it upwards as well.

The other changes are good, jab 1 connects to jab 2 more consistently at lower percents, but not the tilts. It pushes the opponent way too far away and they just ground tech before the next attack comes out.
