Interior Blast Door Concepts

Description
UPDATE: You can check out some updated blast door designs here:

http://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=275009606

EDIT: The last two doors seem to be somewhat broken. The most recent update affected both motors and landing gear, which are the two main components of the doors aside from armor blocks, so I'm hoping whatever is causing the problems is just a bug that can be sorted out as I have yet to find a good fix. Large doors like the third one just don't seem to be stable enough right now, but if you want to build doors like the smallest one the problem can be fixed by deleting the landing gears attached to the moving doors themselves (not the ones attached to the station blocks!) and increasing the velocity of the motors. +/- ~10 to 12 rpm seems to be a good range for a door of this size. Hope this helps!

This map is just a showcase of a few different designs for blast doors that can be used in the interior of large ships. I found myself wishing there were more options for interior doors than just the default door that's available right now, so I made a few of my own!

All of these doors are operated by accessing the reactor control panels next to the doors and clicking the "Reverse" button for the group labeled "Reverse to open/close."

You can see how they work by going outside the structure and to the top to look through the glass. There are control panels for the doors at the top, so you can activate them from there and watch them work.

PLEASE NOTE: I have had some issues with these doors and the block updating bug, where one or more of the motors will not start moving when you tell them to. For those that don't know, this can be fixed by placing a block on the structure of the door then deleting it. This should update the structure and start the stuck motors.

Thanks to Arron from LSG for letting me use his video!

I can't figure it out. You should put in some simple buttons to open the doors.

Of course you're welcome to use them. If you want to make one like the third door, you can fix it by only making the moving panels only one block thick. I uploaded these doors right before the update that changed some things about center of mass, and having a two block thick door panel now seems to put too much strain on the rotors and they get stuck. You can improve the second one by just increasing the rotor velocity.

If you use connectors, you can connect the small ship with the large ship and control your doors from every control panel in the ship.

congrats on having your workshop file featured on LSG's channel

honest.... we have seen this ages ago... I have put piston systems up like... I dunno how long ago... check out my workshop...

Also... why not just build it streight into the large ship? so much easier... and so much less likely to break...
