Description
Liberty Springs is a blank canvas suitable for large cities and farmsteads alike, with mainly an american metropolis style theme. The terrain is varied and will steer the player towards flattening some areas for larger population centers and cities. By simply smoothing the terrain (not flattening to a certain height), you can achieve a natural "wavy" terrain to break that 100% flat look as well.

Don't be intimidated by the long list of requirements! In actuality the list consists of:
• 3 mods
• 2 map themes
• 1 set of trees
• 1 custom highway set, which makes up most of the list.

Use the one-click collection for easy subscription to everything :)

A short list-style description of this map:
  • Varied terrain heights. Will require some work to claim land for larger settlements. See the last image for a heightmap and other overviews of the map.
  • Just 240K Trees, leaving still plenty of room for tree detailing too.
  • Close attention to detail in terms of smooth roads, no collisions and no trees in weird places. A standard for my work.
  • Pre-existing networking takes care of heavy traffic. Connect the 3 loose ends at the center of the map to re-direct traffic however you like. The loose ends are intended to support heavy central city traffic once you start building around them.
  • All transportation modes present.
  • Not very rich in natural resources. Mostly used just for aesthetic purposes.
  • Node controller has been used to make really smooth ramps and intersections. Intersection markings are in place too.

Visual mods to achieve the same look as in the screenshots:
  • LUT: Relight 3 Average
  • Daylight Classic (all to classic)
  • Clouds & Fog Toggler (disable clouds and edge fog)
  • Road Colors Changer ++

Other recommended mods:
  • 81 Tiles to take advantage of all the space provided. Works really well with just 25 or even the vanilla 9 tiles too!
  • Prop & Tree anarchy to prevent some trees disappearing at launch due to collisions.

A word from the creator:
Once again a map that was nearly finished months ago but I didn't have the time to go through the polishing phase. Now thanks to the Common Ground mod this phase is significantly faster and easier than before. Special thanks to BonBonB for giving me a heads up on the mod in his youtube channel! Other than that, besides this map being on the shelf for a long time, it was a relatively quick project.

If you come across any bugs / issues, please let me know down in the comments. I'll do my best to make up time to patch up any possible errors! Also feel free to post any questions, critique, compliments, whatever you want to! If you leave a dislike, please leave a comment as to why you disliked my creation so that I'll know how I can improve in the future. Thanks!

I think the different (new) Theme Mixer versions have a backwards compatibility, but it is possible that the mix is broken. I have not tested it out myself recently.
If it's broken, fixing it would be difficult as I no longer remember the exact mix used, and it would take a surprising amount of work to rework the theme mix all the way up to re-publishing it.

TLDR: Not sure if it works, to my understanding it should be ok. If it's broken, I most likely won't be updating it as it's quite a workload to fix it.

@IhmeHihhuli ™ does this work with theme mixer 2.5?????

Unfortunately no. If you're willing to do a little bit of work yourself though, it's relatively straightforward to replace the roads in the map editor. Just subscribe to the roads temporarily, load the map up and "upgrade" the roads to mass transit roads, then save the map and voila, you have a mass transit conversion.

The reason there won't be a different version of the map on the workshop is the required work to replace the roads in a sufficient quality to my standards as this map uses the node controller and thus remaking the interchanges is rather laborious if you want to preserve the smoothness. Same applies to the intersection markings that are in place. On top of this, uploading the map to the workshop takes up a surprisingly large amount of work in itself too.

TLDR: If you're willing to put in a little work yourself, it's doable but unfortunately there won't be a different version of the map on the workshop.

Will there be a version of this map with Mass Transit roads instead?

Very happy to hear you found the culprit to the issue. Also thank you for taking the time to share it here in case someone else is experiencing the same issue!

After deleting the barges mod and adding specialized industry, cargo ships finally start spawning.

To be fair, sounds like there's just something fishy going on with the AI. It could have something to do with a mod or an asset you have.

In any case, I unfortunately have no more tips to give out other than just either trying to troubleshoot the issue by removing mods or assets to see if the issue resolves itself or just simply letting the city / game progress and see if there's just something holding the out-of-city ship traffic back - for example, perhaps there's some requirements for some industry sizes or something like that to start spawning in the ships. I'd also try increasing the shipping budget to the maximum for an extended period of time to see if it makes a difference. Some policies might have an effect too. I hope the issue resolves itself!

After more testing, I was able to see the first cruise ship and a couple cargo planes coming in. The vanilla port asset started spawning cargo ships to deliver cargo to other port assets that I have placed. In essence, the ports are using cargo ships like cargo trucks...

Both airplanes and trains come in fine, both passenger trains and cargo, but I haven't tested cargo planes.
