SSL Cleffa

(CLEFFA LEVELED UP TO 3.0!! Several of Cleffa's move have been refined or changed outright and they received a bunch of buffs too! Check the patch notes for more details. And if anything regarding these changes makes them OP please don't be afraid to let me know! I welcome your critique!!)


As part of Rivals Workshop's Pokejam, Cleffa the starshape pokemon joins for some clean, fun, and friendly battles! Though they don't have the capabilities to go up against Aether's toughest, Cleffa is determined to prove themself a capable battler in the SSL division!

Cleffa is lightweight and they may not seem to have a lot going for them at first glance... But they honed what few moves they knew to the best of their ability. Anyone who dares underestimate this little one may find themselves starstruck by a series of cute but surprisingly tricky attacks...!


GIMMICK: CHARMED
Cleffa is a baby pokemon, and an adorable one at that... And they know it. They make up for their lackluster defenses in battle through their ability Charm foes. The opponent's will to fight will waver, resulting in Cleffa taking around 40% less damage for the next three attacks they're hit by! Be careful though, Charm has no effect an a foe's launch power!

Amazingly enough, its not just Charm itself (UTILT) that can inflict this status... Disarming Voice (JAB) and Eeeeeeek! (NAIR) can also do this! Please read the moveset below for more details.



MOVESET:
JAB - Disarming Voice. Cleffa sings, causing a note projectile to appear and bounce along the ground. Don't confuse it with Jigglypuff's sing, this one hurts instead of putting you to sleep! It can also inflict the charmed status.

FTILT - Zen Headbutt. Apparently, all members of the clefairy line were capable of learning this move naturally in the past. Did this cleffa remember a past life to recall this move...? Regardless, it has a short range but comes out quick and strong, potentially launching foes!

DTILT - Rolling Star. Cleffa once saw a battle involving a trainer who sent out what looked like a bigger version of themself. She battled well, but when she eventually fainted, the trainer sent out an incredibly powerful pokemon whose rollout finished off the opposing team with ease! Cleffa... Can't actually learn rollout. But they try anyways, rolling forward to send enemies flying and quickly gain ground!

UTILT - Charm. Cleffa Poses cutely, making hearts appear that not only damage but also inflicts opponents with the charmed status.

NAIR - Eeeeeeek! Cleffa squeals adorably, causing a soundwave to appear around them! Good for keeping your enemies away from you. No, this doesn't allow anyone to draw several cards from their deck... But it CAN inflict the charmed status! Not only that, but this move has the wave bounce property... The ability to change direction in the first frame if you wish!

FAIR - Sweet Kiss. Cleffa propels themself forward in an attempt to hug and smooch a foe, causing damage. But if Cleffa misses they'll pratfall! Afterwards, the target is thrown backwards while Cleffa leaps in the opposite direction. If you hold the opposite direction button during that moment, Cleffa will face the opposite direction too! By the way, don't worry... Sweet Kiss doesn't cause confusion here.

UAIR - Draining Kiss. Same as FAIR but Cleffa leaps straight up instead of forward. The target is sent upwards more than backwards and Cleffa gets some extra upwards momentum too! To top it off, they'll even heal 3% of damage too!

DAIR - Trailing Star. Cleffa spins in the air like a small, soft drill in an attempt to land several small hits. The final hit of the attack can spike!

BAIR - Critical Pound. A midair punch backwards. It's a little more powerful than you'd expect, dealing good damage and launching foes! Cleffa will also face the opposite direction.


Does this little Cleffa have what it takes to go up against the other pokemon and fighters in SSL and battle on equal standing with them?? Only time will tell...
