S.S. Glencoe

Description
S.S. Glencoe is a coal steamship based off a heavily modified version of M.V Manorbier.
I have tried to make this as role player friendly as possible. I've taken the time to label everything to minimize confusion. please let me know if you find something that i should fix. This ship will be updated a lot as it is more or less my creative outlet. Expect updates when new content or dlc is release. When the weapons DLC is released i plan on making an exploding boiler triggered by seawater in the room while boiler is hot. there will also be target zones on the ship to trigger a breakup and sink instantly.

Change Notes

New Weapons DLC Variant available
https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2627529041&searchtext=

Boilers will be snuffed out by water
Total electrical failure if water gets to the electrical panel (lights and equipment flicker and go out)
Boilers and electrical can be restored by pumping out water
Expanded alarm system

Added Gangway and backup generator

Re-skinned hatches with a better wood texture. Now both forward and aft hatches will break off.
for the hatches to break off you need to have the scuttling valve open for the corresponding compartment.
if you want both to break off you need to open both scuttling valves.
an electric cable will keep the hatch on the ship until you disconnect it. (i cant make it detach or i would)
Detached hatches will float. (don't ever let go jack) lol

Also Texture fixes and re-wiring for new features.

See the Discussion for startup instructions.

(Performance improves a lot when you get away from the spawn point)

Glencoe operated by Capt. D. Frampton of St.John's. Built of riveted construction in 1947 by Goole Shipbuilding as GSN's Teal (its ships were named for birds) it came to Canada in 1963.

It was still loaded in the old laborious manner. One pallet at a time was slung aboard, and the bags hand stowed, and the pallet sent back to shore. The presence of fork lift trucks (invariably called Towmotors, no matter the brand) were the sole touch of "modernity".

Glencoe lasted into the late 1970s, but was sold in 1979 from layup in Halifax. It went to Quebec where it loaded scrap and sailed for Miami as Jehovah Star for Haitian owners. It had a checkered career thereafter. After a grounding in November 1978 it was confined to port in Miami then renamed Etoile de Bethlehem in 1988 and both Ayatollah and Iron Maiden in 1989. It was finally deleted from Lloyds in 2012.

She has:
Forward and aft scuttling valves (the ship will break apart if either cargo hold floods using these.)
Functioning engine order telegraph (for communication with maneuvering from the bridge and 2MC circuit)
Fully moving steam engine
Emergency local controls of steering and engine
Abandon ship alarm
Fire Alarm
A fully functional Maneuvering room to fine tune the steam engines. (startup tutorial in Discussion)
Bilge pumps
Functional showers
PA system
Working video game console with remote control in crews mess.
Engine room skylight that opens
Life Rings that deploy

She will carry roughly 1400 coal in her main engine bunkers and can make 16 knots empty on a single screw.

This ship can be handled by one person but at least 2 is recommended (mainly to feed the boilers and run the engine room)

There is no propulsion control on the bridge. This is intentional because this was how it was done. you can communicate to the engine room via the touch controlled telegraph. There is also a communication circuit to talk to your engineer.

This ship can be refueled from the coal bunker access on both sides. The lever to open the hatch is topside on the aft deck.

Scuttling valves are located forward under the 3rd officers stateroom. access hatch on the floor.
Aft valve is in the Sick Bay under the bed.

If you want to just enjoy this ship i recommend infinite fuel (otherwise you will have to load coal into the boiler every 20 min or so)

If you run low on steam use the forward freshwater fill tank to top off your Steam fill tanks. Hose connectors are topside forward and aft.

Honestly this thing probably could use a complete overhaul. it has not been updated sense 2022. other projects have me preoccupied. in performance alone i feel i could do much better. ive leaned much in the time sense the last update to this. its on a long list of to do work.

no idea id this is a known/fixed issue, but the generator seemingly randomly turns off after it has been running for a bit. is mine just bugged?

yeah there isnt much info on glencoe. i found her picture and got inspired. i tried my best to find source photos and did get a small history on her but no real interior layout or description. (and she isnt 1-1 scale anyway.) yes i did basically gut manobier like you said and i used my navy background to design systems and interior. it was my first major project and gave me a chance to really cut my teeth on systems and fundamentals. i just kept adding features as i went. it took months to refine and test. it worked alot better before stormworks changed the boilers. the workaround fix for over-pressurization isnt ideal.
