Description
Ocean Tile Resources
Makes it so that (most) sea resources can now also spawn on ocean tiles!

This mod was made almost entirely just to improve the realisticness of Civilization VI resources - it's pretty unrealistic that fish and whales can't spawn on actual ocean tiles - but occasionally resources do spawn close enough to shore for your cities to work them, where they can be improved with Fishing Boats (extra useful if you use p0kiehl's Deep Sea Fisheries).

Note: These resources will not appear on ocean tiles (for realistic reasons):


Compatibility
  • All official expansions and DLCs
  • Sukritact's Oceans (compatibility specifically added - Caviar cannot spawn on ocean tiles)
  • Other mods that add new sea resources
  • Basically all mods that don't overhaul the entire game

Warning: (especially when abundant resources is enabled) Sukritact's sea resources added in his Oceans and Resources mods have a tendency to go absolutely bonkers like this:

I use "Foreign Resource Extraction 2.0" to get the oil, rarely the AI but it´s there

Great mod, sadly, it spawns oil in ocean, where no one can reach it...

If you expand your city far enough then the city limits will grow far over the ocean tiles. You just have to devote the time on the cities to help them grow. While it's not possible to use every single cell out there it is possible to reach nearly everything given some ingenuity and perseverance at finding the right spots to settle that would allow them to grow to reach those resources. The only difference now is that there's a real reason to grow your city limits with this Mod, unlike before.

@sukritact lol that makes sense. I haven't done much lua so idk if that would be easy or not to implement, but I have the same question as @Ciar Aon below

@sukritact Any chance of an update to the resource spawning script for oceans? This mod + JNR's Trawler improvement (with custom modification for use outside of territory) from Alliances Expanded make ocean tiles much more useful and interesting.

Lmao, I didn’t write the resource spawning script to account for oceans, only coasts, which is likely why it’s going mad XD
