Although, looking at the screenshots provided, I think I know what you mean about the piston assemblies in the reactor building. Those can stay put - they look appropriate.
The ones near the generator room can also stay put. They look really nice and appropriate as well.
However, what I'm looking at is a way to make the pistons inside the reactor building, retractable. So they can be extended and connected, or retracted and disconnected for reactor maintenance.
I'll still do a walkthrough, and let you know what I think of the design. Still though, I would like it modified so that it is all above-ground, and so that it is project-able and usable in survival mode without all the prep.
Also, given what you've said, it seems like you're looking for an entirely different design. I'm not trying to be difficult, but I don't want this to turn into a get-a-rock drill.
If one of the subgrids is control rods, then you can keep those. On the other hand, you can eliminate the giant fan entirely. I don't intend to ever go in the cooling tower space.
Also, remember what I said about hydrogen or oxygen tanks? Those were meant to be representative of coolant piping.
You don't have to make it look like 1:1 replica of a real plant. It can be a case of "close enough."
As long as it looks the part, and all the critical "safety" subgrids (think: control rods and coolant piping) check out, we're golden.
I'll kick out an entirely new version (not overwrite the current one) that includes something like "Projector Buildable" in the name (or PB; the name's already too long). I'll let you know when I publish it.
(I only work peripherally in the nukie world; I deal with the ass-end of the fuel cycle...handling and transportation of radioactive waste.)
If you can rip off the spent fuel pool or alternatively, place it somewhere on the surface, that would be fine, oh and please rearrange the piping to be on the surface, Or at least rearrange the internal piping.
I did not know you worked in the industry, I therefore bow to the one who has more expertise than me.
