ALP Defender / OSV - AHTS

Description
ALP Defender

This is my ALP Defender. The Defender is a Long haul tug/ AHTS owned and operated By ALP. It is roughly a 1:2 scale version. It measures 50m by 10m and will spawn into the default workbench. I have tried to keep it as realistic as possible while still maintaining a reasonable physics lag and having good functionality in Stormworks. My pc runs it anywhere from 40 to 52 Physics FPS. She has a range of about 300 Km at 17.5 knots. The top speed is 29 Knots. This Ship has a sister ship built by fellow JSI member Biba. We built them simultaneously, and while they are similar, they are two completely different vessels.

Startup procedure
-enter bridge
-turn on the displays flip switch
-start generator fuel pumps
-start generator
-start port and starboard main pumps
-start main engines

You can also start the engines from the engine control room, but the bridge is the fastest. Electric breakers spawn in the on position but can be turned off in the control room as well.

Large crane
This is controlled by the rear-facing seat in the bridge.
Unlock it by pressing hotkey 4.

Deck crane
This is controlled by the helm on the right side of the winch garage.
Unlock it by pressing hotkey 4.

Winch controls - bollards
The touch screens on the left side of the winch garage are labeled to their respective winch.
The key will activate the bollards.

Davit controls
The controls to lower the mob is on the second deck.
First, unlock the boat, then activate the davit.

you should make a tug version of the alp

How do you submerge the deck?

Really nice ship. I am honored to see you have reused the humble speed and depht monitors I designed for the Volunteer in the overhead display... and would be all the more honored by a little credit in the description :-) Thanks.

That's actually quite clever... Kudos mate

I'm just lobbing ATGMs at it right now and watching it (literally) explode. So idk what you got on the ship internally but its appealing to my pyrotechnical desires.

I'm gonna try that DP thing after. If the ship survives the inferno ;)

Mike S, the DP runs off of the bow thruster, stern thruster, and two electric motors that are clutched into the props. so it just sidelines the diesel engines. the DP will hold the ship over a specific spot and not let it move, set the wind to 100, and give the system a 1-2 min to orient the ship and you will see it move back to the exact spot and hold the ship there. The DP can be set up with a heading hold or the most efficient is wind facing mode, simply click on the wind or heading text on the display once the dp is enabled.

Ah! it was DP.

My bad. What is DP for then? if the engine don't work with it enabled :P

Eight Hook, The mast doesn't fold down it starts in the folded position so it will fit in the normal workbench, you could hook up an easy clutch to the pivots if you want to fold the mast.

Mike S, If you have dynamic positioning engaged the props will not engage maybe you had the DP engaged?
ACG_Firefly 23 Feb, 2021 @ 5:48pm
and yes... I've clicked the "engage prop" buttons.

clearly they don't work
ACG_Firefly 23 Feb, 2021 @ 5:46pm
How do you put it in gear?

I've spent the last 20 minutes revving its nuts off and it wont move...
