"Try not to hit the kid!"

Featuring prominently several times during the movie, the Float plane is another instantly recognisable craft thanks to it's rusty fuselage and smoke trail. The real-life aircraft was based on a Helio Courier H-295 fitted with floats, doors removed and a hole cut in the roof for a gunner to operate the mounted machine gun.

Summary:

The Float plane is a life-size replica give or take, built from small-grid blocks designed to be flown by a single pilot. There is a fixed, side-facing Gatling gun to simulate the gunners position behind the cockpit; a turret would have been preferred but the vanilla offering is simply far too large and doesn't fit with the build. Maximum speed on water is around 50m/s which is plenty for taking off into the air simply by pulling back on the stick as it were, once in the air handling is fairly docile- the major caveat being that since this is a vanilla aircraft with only forwards thrusters, you will need to maintain a nose slightly up attitude in order to stay airborne, otherwise she turns nicely by banking the gyros over and pulling back on the stick.
Controls are very simple and laid out in a logical fashion for ease of use- thruster overrides, Gatling gun controls, on/off option for the propeller etc etc.

Important note:

The Float plane itself is vanilla and requires no mods to function- perfect if you are already running a modded world with the water mod installed. If you aren't however then you will need to subscribe to the Water mod & Text hud API to fully appreciate this creation- I also highly recommend subscribing to the Water planet for a better experience ( no underwater trees & grass.... ).
