Description
Purpose
A small trailer designed as a dedicated dock for the Calpini scout drones, with a batteries and hydogen system for recharging and a hinge dock for connecting the drones.

Calpini-A
Calpini-H
Calpini-I

There are also hinges at the front and rear that function as tow hitches, allowing connections to either trucks or other trailers. As this is not designed as an autonomous vehicle, each trailer is controlled primarily through the use of labeled buttons, although an RC block is still present. Check the "Movement & Control" section for a list of the buttons and their functions.

The vehicles that are compatible with this trailer include:
1. ISL - Iktis RO-100a Light Truck
2. ISL - Iktis RO-130b Light Truck
3. ISL - Ratel RO-720 Excavator
4. ISL - Marten RO-520 Excavator
5. ISL - Marten MK2 RO-520 Excavator
6. ISL - Lakan RC-630a Medium Truck
7. ISL - Lakan RC-700b Medium Truck
8. ISL - Nurina RO-34 Forklift
9. ISL - Mara RO-54b Survival Truck
10. ISL - Mara RO-122a Light Cargo Truck
11. ISL - Lontra RO-72 Utility Truck
12. V.M.E Light Utility Vehicle
13. V.M.E ACR-6 Armoured Risk Control Vehicle
14. V.M.E Light-Duty Truck
15. V.M.E Brawler Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle
16. V.M.E ACR-8 Armoured Ground Combat Vehicle
17. V.M.E ACR-4 Armoured Combat Rover
18. [AGI] SV-64 Castor (Scouting Vehicle)
19. [AGI] LTV-73 Plutus (Light Tunneling Vehicle)

This trailer is still considered "printable" although the addition of a single hinge head block is required after printing, as seen in the screenshots.

Features
Power:
1 Battery
8 Small Batteries
4 Small Hydrogen Tanks
1 Hydrogen Generator
1 Hydrogen Engine

Movement & Control:
1 Remote Control
2 wheels - 3x3

The buttons and timer blocks found on this trailer, and their functions, are as follows:

1. Pack Button - Trigger TB Pack
2. Unpack Button - Trigger TB Unpack
3. Connector Switchlock Button - Lock or Unlock the connector
4. Attach Button - Attach hinge head to rear mounted hinge base (tow hitch)
5. Detach Button - Detach hinge head to rear mounted hinge base (tow hitch)
6. TB Pack - Front Hinge Unlock, Piston Retract, Handbrake Off, Lights On
7. TB Unpack - Front Hinge Lock, Piston Extend, Handbrake On, Lights Off

Cargo Space
1 Small Cargo Container
1 Connector (underside)

Miscellaneous:
This trailer has an empty mass of 12222 kgs.

All ships, vehicles & trailers in this set have a rear mounted Merge block and can be printed using a welder wall with one (large grid) piston. However in this case the merge block is designed to be ground down after printing, all blocks that require removal are painted bright red.

With redesign I was thinking of a mk 2 version, though if you want to redo this one ... :)

I think that what you should consider doing to future-proof future designs is have the connection between trailer and drone be a four block straight line. Starting from the drone it should be a conveyor junction/pipe, Hinge part, Hinge, straight pipe and pipe/conveyor junction. That way the hinge part, hinge and straight pipe can be replaced with small connectors without further rebuilding and hopefully without causing unsightly holes or bulges.

My remarks about power were primarily to point out that the engine (or two if the battery is replaced by a second one) can recharge a drone almost as fast as a battery and can recharge/jumpstart the trailer so long as the hydrogen holds out. Someone wanting to bombproof the design could add a programmable block with (IIRC) Isy's Ship Refueler which can juggle engines and batteries.

Yeah, I keep all the ISL stuff vanilla, but I would enjoy some kind of small connector or merge block, if Keen ever decides to add one.

As for trying to do too much, I'd rather overkill than not have enough. With the current set up it could charge any of the Calpini drones, without needing an additional trailer for more batteries/hydrogen.

I will not be redesigning this trailer, although I may do a MK2 drone trailer, as I upload more drones. With the exception of the Calpini drone (where small size was the main goal), I want to keep it a general rule that ISL designs with a hydrogen engine or thrusters should have an H2O2 generator as well.

Additional trailers can always be connected, of course, but having both a large battery and a full hydrogen system makes the trailer self sufficient, so why design to need 2-3 trailers, when one will do the job just fine?

This is an interesting trailer and one I might use in modified form. I play with Coupling Blocks so I have a small connector available instead of the small ejector and that is ideal for this design. This does mean drones dock a block further back than in the base design though.

I do think that the trailer does try to do too much though since it has both a large battery and an engine, alongside a H2O2 generator. Power storage is not 100% efficient in SE so it would actually make sense to use the engine if hydrogen is available, with the battery only being used where there is no hydrogen. For rocket drones hydrogen is of course required.

I would suggest redesigning this into two designs, one with an engine or two and one with large batteries but in both cases without the H2O2 generator. Trailers with hydrogen tanks and H2O2 generators or with extra batteries or reactors could be connected or hitched on as needed.

Keep up the good work!
