Description
Purpose
The Iktis is a light truck powered by both battery and hydrogen systems. It features a sealed and better protected cockpit than the lighter ISL buggies, and although cargo space in the vehicle itself is limited (2 small containers and the connectors), the rear mounted (and conveyored) hinge functions as a tow-hitch for attaching trailers, broadening the vehicle's functionality.

The speed limit is set to 100km/h, as it is safer when towing a trailer, however the Iktis was stable during testing with a speed limit of 180km/h without a trailer.

This truck is compatible with the following Trailers:
1. V.M.E Mobile Autocannon Trailer
2. V.M.E Single-Axle Survival Trailer
3. ISL - Gatling Turret Trailer
4. ISL - Missile Turret Trailer
5. ISL - Solar Recharge Trailer
6. ISL - Light Cargo Trailer
7. ISL - Hydrogen Storage Trailer
8. ISL - Survival Kit Trailer
9. ISL - Ore Detector Trailer
10. ISL - Medium Cargo Trailer
11. ISL - Medium Survival Trailer
12. ISL - Medium Solar Recharge Trailer
13. ISL - Medium Hydrogen Storage Trailer
14. [AGI] ST-65 Survival Trailer

However the vehicle will struggle with the Medium Cargo Trailer or Medium survival trailer if their containers are loaded.

This variant has gatling turret mounted on the roof, while the unarmed variant uses the space for an extra connector.

The programmable block is turned off in this blueprint and all toolbars are the same from the cockpit and remote control.

All ships, vehicles & trailers in this set have a rear mounted Merge block and can be printed using a welder wall with one (large grid) piston. However in this case the merge block is designed to be ground down after printing, all blocks that require removal are painted bright red.

@Echo Mande, so although it didn't appear to be an issue for the Iktis, I did end up including a button for disabling rear steering in the Lakan (the medium Truck), and will probably also have to do so for the Heavy, so thank you for the suggestion!

I'm hesitant to add exhaust controls to the toolbar, as I like to standardize buttons where possible, but I haven't quite decided what percentage I should have the dependency on by default, especially since the better vehicles tend to have a big power surplus. So let me know if you find a sweet spot for that?

I think hold out for the next one before deciding on this one as the go to (busy with it now). It's slightly longer, with more containers and some thrusters for going uphill with heavy trailers.

The trailers I made to go with this one were deliberately quite small, so that they would suit the vehicle and not have the jackknifing problem (that and the 35 degree limit each way on the hinges). As I release the larger truck I will also do some larger trailers (tested together)

When you say my large grid trailer, do you mean the Ore Detector one?

As for swapping the buttons around, you might have an easier time jumping out the truck to "Unpack", then getting back in it and using button 3, toolbar 3 to detach, since I assume if you are detaching a trailer your next move will be to drive away from it?

I like it!

This might end up becoming my go-to medium cargo transport, especially in early games.

Some things I noticed during testing.

- It is probably a good idea to add a keyboard option to disable steering on the rear axle. Nimble is good but this thing is too nimble to tow large trailers (twice the size of your Large Grid trailer) well without being prone to easy jackknifing.

- Think about reversing either the pack/unpack buttons on trailers or the attach/detach buttons on vehicles and trailers. You currently have to hit unpack and then walk around the vehicle to hit detach to detach a trailer. This feels wierd.

- Just for laughs, add controls to adjust the exhaust's power dependency dynamicaly. It's IMO a pity we can't set the exhaust type through the hotbar.

I mashed together two of yourr large grid carrier trailers to try out a mobile basebuilder projector carrier trailer. It works well but needs the steering adjustment above.
