Allies Return Land: Anyndel Reupload [Beta]

Description
Anyndel Reupload

As of Sep 21, 2020, Anyndel the modder has retired either temporarily or permanently and has put their load of workshop mods to the public for anyone who would like to go through and grab them. This is a reupload/update/rewrite of Anyndel's original content. If at any point they come back and can return to mod, I'm more than willing to take this mod down and allow theirs to be back up.

The original mod can be found at: https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1913352970

Before I get many requests - I only plan on picking up five or so of Anyndel's mods, this one included (Land Encounters, Watchtowers & Forts, Allies Return Land, Hire Reinforcements, Call Nearby Ally Army).

I have functional betas of two that will be uploaded soon once some kinks are ironed out, the other two might take a bit of time. I don't plan on picking up any beyond that for the time being, there are still my own mods I want to focus on as well.

Features

This mod gently forces AI allies of the player to return land the player lost previously, by running a check every turn on all player-owned land and adding all those regions to a list, which persists even if the land is lost (except by land lost through the Region Trading mod). If an allied AI faction takes that land previously owned by a player, bloop, it goes right back to the player next turn.

This update for the mod does work in multiplayer, and it will track owned regions between the two players independently. The last player to have captured a settlement gets it added to their table; so if player A captures Reikland, loses it, then player B captures it and loses it, player B's ally will return it to them instead of player A's ally returning it to player A.

This mod is marked as beta because I have not been able to fully test it out. It should not crash but there may be minor bugs or things I didn't account for. Please tell me if you have any issues with it!

Planned Updates

Right now the mod is more or less at feature parity, not much more to do to it. I may have to do a couple bug fixes, and I may toss in some MCT options for things like timeouts (ie. they only return lands you lost within the last 5 turns). Beyond that, no major plans.

Compatibility

Compatible with any other mod.

It can be added or removed without scare - though the "tracking" only begins once you enable the mod, so it won't catch any previously lost settlements.

God what I would do for someone to remake this for Warhammer 3 (I know there is region trading now but having to pay a bazillion coin to for my allies to return a settlement that was mine that they sniped feels bad)

Does this need a update?

@Dragon32

Ha! I've just been in the industry long to understand who dictates to who. Hint: the actual development team has little and sometimes no say in what they are making: the marketing department kisses the rears of the suits in charge, and gets to dictate the direction the product's-development takes.

Always illuminating when someone with actual game development experience weighs in, thanks for commenting /s

Once again, the modding community must add in basic features and mechanics that CA themselves didn't care to. That's what happens when you prioritize visuals and 'pretty, flashing lights' over all else.

Any luck Vandy, or are we good to go?

I can't recall if I added support for the new abandon feature - I'll take a look and make sure that's fine!

Excellent mod, question for you. If I abandon a settlement and my ally then takes it, do they give it back to me?
