Description
I'm off to DeadBird to solve a murder mystery. Again. Yay. Seriously, I just got back from this!

A level based on the DanganRonpa games where you must figure out the culprit of the murder. So who died? Only 1 way to find out. Includes several parts of the previous trials since DR's minigames have pretty much all been covered (well, mostly, but Argument Armament isn't something I wanna see done to these adorable characters). The level... may actually take as long as an actual DR trial. Better be prepared, cause the level is SUPER long.

Seriously, this level is a commitment. Be prepared.

Contains 1 level. No masks required.
Forewarning, as with the previous trial, this one has annoying crash bugs upon dying (which I'm still looking for) and finishing/leaving the level, though the chances of dying are pretty much nonexistant in this trial. Even with the issue, getting through the level shouldn't be a problem.
Just be aware that it will likely crash once you leave the level.

The rift collapse script was from the 'Reversible Rift' level by Drunk Accordion and PhillipFTW. Thanks for including it for public use! You can find the level here. https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1522821997

Thanks to Guzbloon, Yoshimo, happyalm, and a lot of other people on the Discord for getting the HUD to work properly.

Thanks to Starschulz for helping figure out how the outline function worked and Crash for the cellshading one.

I used mixamo.com to get some of the custom animations used in this level.

DanganRonpa is published and developed by Spike Chunsoft Co., Ltd.

The BG this time is Ape Escape, a consistent favorite of mine. Be prepared for A LOT of it. Ape Escape is published and developed by Sony.

Credit to the VAs for helping add another layer of quality to the mod!

Try going up against Grooves / Conductor in main game again, since this chapter relies on a variable related to that. If I'm understanding correctly, that's probably the issue.

Hello. I casually looked into the map and I noticed that you tend to use Materials where you should have used MaterialInstances, resulting an bloated upk and long initial loading of the map.

Additionnaly as you said this is one map. One giant map.

The monitors in map 3 should be an excellent example.

As for character cutouts.. those are modified via kismet. And Kismet lacks functions to change parameters of MaterialInstances. So I made custom class as detailed in this pastebin: https://pastebin.pl/view/dd987b93 .

I'm planning to program custom camera class for ease of use during trial.

As for one giant level... one can use StreamingLevel, but since this thing is Kismet heavy I don't know how this will work.

If you have any questions just ask.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense now. I really kinda forgot to listen to the commentary on the account that my PC can hardly handle A Hat In Time in general. When you put it like that, it makes a lot more sense. also side note, I just gotta say for some characters I think were written fantastically (the purple one I forgot how to spell, Nomad, C.A.W) and I just wanna say I'm hyped for the 6th. Keep up the great work!

Trial 6 is intended to follow up with the ability to pick the survivor at the start since it assumes you went through both routes of trial 5, and maybe you wouldn't prefer your default route. Also it'd be easier to implement. As for which one I consider canon, I state my feelings on the matter in the SAL3000 cheat code's director's commentary.

Though... I kinda considered this trial to be the strongest due to just how much stuff I put in it. Those cheat codes were meant to be used.

The Deadbird winner thing was the main gimmick to the trial, and was planned after trial 1 was completed. The logic was 'whoever won the award tries to kill you, thus having no issue with it', so the loser would likely have a some resistence to it, long enough for there to be a gap that gets them to survive. There's not really a great way to incorporate that though... The reason I waited until trial 5 despite it being the 2nd trial concept made was because I'd feel like changing most future trials accordingly with who lived and died would result in a lot more work than I'd want to deal with. So it's the 2nd to last trial to mitigate that.

The killer being obvious because it's not who you play as was kinda something I foresaw, and I treated it more as a battle between both birds because of it. Though, I did kinda hope concealing who died first would cause a speck of doubt to form.
