Colored Cable Car

In 1 collection by sway
sway's cable car assets
9 items
Description
Cable cars with customizable color variations. Same functionality as the vanilla cable cars.

It has 4 default color variations shown in the screenshots. You can use Advanced Vehicle Options to change the color variations to any color you like.

Vehicle Selector is required for the cable cars to spawn.

It is compatible with my experimental Gravitative Cable Car mod.

Each Vehicle asset can have up to 4 color variations. If you want to use more colors(rainbow cable car fleet!), load it up in the asset editor and save the new version as a different vehicle asset.

Screenshots taken with Realistic V1.2 LUT, Cleyra map theme, and Daylight Classic

I wrote a cable car creation guide[github.com] for people who want make cable car vehicle assets! This guide assumes you already know how to make other types of assets(props, buildings, cars, etc.) It shows the steps I did to make my colored cable car asset, and also how to make your cable car work with my gravitative cable car mod.

Last Update
I don't make or update Cities Skylines assets anymore. My assets are not very good in terms of quality, but feel free to use modtools to extract the mesh/texture and do anything you want to them. You have the permission to upload the modified versions to the workshop.

@BlueThunder796 Yes feel free to modify my assets and upload the modified versions on the workshop. If you need the source files I can upload them somewhere.

Hey, I'm working on a large cities transport project and was wondering if i could have your permission to edit and upload these with custom liveries for the project, You would get full credit on them, you can see the project here https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2346334152 (i know you mention people can edit them, i just like to get permission)

@Steve123 this one has some minor problems and was intended to be replaced by the TR one so I probably won't touch it anymore. The TR version also has customizable color variation.

Can you also make a RHD version of this?

@t1a2l thanks for letting me know. I never tried that mod but I'll take a look

@sway - Just wanted to let you know, you can use "enhanced districts" instead of "service vehicle selector 2". "enhanced districts" support choosing a vehicle in the cable car.

@macsergey I think I'll just make a right-hand traffic version by rotating it 180 degrees and post it on the workshop since this is the easiest way to solve the problem.

@macsergey I understood what you meant. The screenshots were taking in a testing city in right hand traffic. This is how it looks like in a city with left hand traffic(the cable car was going downhill):

It doesn't have this problem in left hand traffic. I can just rotate it by 180 degree but then it will only work for right hand traffic, not left hand traffic. So I can't simply rotate it by 180 degrees. I might just make a right-hand traffic version and put it on the workshop so people can choose which one to subscribe, or combine both versions and people can just select which one to spawn, but then it means you will have redundant things taking up memory. Another way is to make the handler a submesh and setup some submesh flags but I need to modify the model more. I need to change the size and position of some parts and this means the new version will look different. Which one do you think is the better way?

@sway I'm not completely sure that you understand me and we are talking about the same thing

@macaergey I think I have to make them a bit smaller. I plan to redo the LOD texture too.
