Abstract
In this guide, I'll be going over the way I approached regaining items lost from my XCOM Chimera Squad Playthrough. I like many others encountered a bug where one of my units lost all of their weapons and armor - being unable to equip any more. I'll be showing:
  • How to Back-Up your Save Files
  • How to Enable the Developer Console
  • (Some) Console Commands available to us.
Best thing? Enabling the Console doesn't lock you out of achievements! So if you need to fix something or just need to experiment, don't fret!

Backing Up Save Files
Before doing anything to alter your Save File, be sure to create a copy of it at another location to back it up. Follow this directory to find the locations of saves:
DRIVE:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My games\XCOM Chimera Squad\XComGame\SaveData
In this folder are all of the save files of XCOM Chimera Squad. Go to copy your file and paste it elsewhere. I advise a desktop folder. If you later need to revert the save, simply put in the copy into the directory.
Enabling the Console
Enabling the Console requires us to access the Local Files of the Game. The easiest way for me to do this was to go into the Properties tab of XCOM: Chimera Squad and go to Local Files. By clicking Browse Local Files this opens up the game's directory.

Then by going into Binaries and Win64, the XCOM.exe file will appear at the bottom. The directory version of this is:
(DRIVE\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\XCOM-Chimera-Squad\Binaries\Win64

Once there, simply go to the XCOM.exe file and right click to Send To Desktop. This creates a shortcut version of the file. On the desktop, right click this file and go to properties. In the target box, add " -allowconsole" to the end of the string.

By applying and using the shortcut you should now launch into the game without going through the launcher. If this happens, you've done it correctly. You will also notice on the title screen that you have access to a bunch of developer features. For now, simply head to your save.
Console Commands
To enable the Console, press the '~' (tilde) key. If all steps have been followed, the console window will appear. This is where a bunch of commands can be entered. I'll go over the ones to get weapons and such back, but for a more detailed list I'll leave this document link here:

(Good commands I missed? Let me know below!)

In my case, Claymore lost his shotgun and armor. The commands for giving weapons and armor are as follows:
GiveItem [Variable] [Quantity]
The Quantity can be whatever number, the variable can be any of the following:
  • WPN_XcomShotgun (Shotgun)
  • WPN_XcomSMG (Submachine Gun)
  • WPN_XcomAR (Assault Rifle)
  • WPN_XComWardenPistol (Cherub’s Pistol)
  • WPN_XComGunslingerPistol (Blueblood’s Pistol)
  • WPN_BreakerShotgun (Axiom’s Shotgun)
  • KevlarArmor (Armor)
  • WPN_EpicAR_1
  • WPN_EpicAR_2
  • WPN_EpicShotgun_1
  • WPN_EpicShotgun_2
  • WPN_EpicPistol_1
  • WPN_EpicPistol_2
  • WPN_EpicSMG_1
  • WPN_EpicSMG_2

So in my instance, to get my Shotgun and Armor back, I typed in:
GiveItem WPN_XcomShotgun 1 and GiveItem KevlarArmor 1
And now I can equip my equipment again! Great thing is that if you have some upgrades unlocked the game will give you the enhanced and masterful versions of those items! Obviously you can do a lot more with the console, so I'll leave that to you!

I have the same issue as @Y2Kafka

The "tilde" key doesn´t work for me. I also used the key under "ESC".
I did all the steps before and can also see the developer environment.

@Jack Benci Assuming I didn't screw it up somehow, that command did NOT stop Terminal from crashing the game.

Alright. Commands entered. about to go into a mission to test. Thought I'd share this thing that I did somehow.

This is one solution I found on reddit by user mjocboy:
"For fixing the gremlin, you need to: GiveWeapon WPN_XComMedicGremlin GiveWeapon WPN_XComOperatorGremlin

depending on if Terminal or Patchwork loses it. Mine didn't stick until I saved and reloaded. The Gremlin animation won't come back but the abilities will work"
Can't confirm if it will work, but could be worth a shot

@AI Player 1 , I've had a few people contact me with that issue. I'm working with them for finding a fix. Its clearly something to do with the make items available box, which is annoying. I'll be sure to let everyone know when I find a work around!

Attempting to use Refresh also causes a crash.

So I'm not great at figuring this stuff out on my own and this guide was great but my Terminal lost her gremlin, too. Don't suppose that's a thing the console commands can fix? She can still use Safeguard (though there is no animation, the effect just happens) but attempting to use Second Wind crashes the game.

@Y2Kafka You should make a shortcut of the xcom.exe file, then add the -allowconsole outside of the quotes.

Also, non-US keyboards somehow have a different mapping for the tilde "~" key. In that case, use whatever key under the "Esc" key. For example:

On a Danish keyboard, the console is accessed by pressing the ½ key, the key just below Esc.

On a French keyboard, the console is accessed by pressing the ² key, the key just below Esc.

On a Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish or Swiss keyboard, the console is accessed by pressing the § key, the key just below Esc.

On a German keyboard, the console is accessed by pressing the ^ key just below Esc.
