[WOTC] Sawed Off Shotgun Overhaul

Description
FEATURES

This mod rebalances LW2 Sawed Off Shotguns to behave more like traditional Pistols. Instead of being "one hit wonder" cheese that ruins the day of 1 or 2 strong enemies at melee range, they become more traditional sidearms for close range engagements.
  • Damage is reduced to: 3-5 (+2 Crit), 4-6 (+2 Crit), 5-7 (+3 Crit).
  • Removed built in bonuses of +15 Crit Chance.
  • Increased effective range and removed the range limit.
  • Primary Sawed Off still has two Ammo and now can be Reloaded normally, as any other weapon.
  • Secondary Sawed Off now has infinite ammo, as any other sidearm.
  • Sawed Off Shotguns still cannot be used with Fan Fire or Faceoff.
  • Both Primary and Secondary can use Pistol Overwatch.
  • Both can now deal some Environment Damage on a miss.
  • Sawed Off Shotguns cannot install Weapon Upgrades.
  • Sawed Off Shotgun Engineering Schematic is removed. They are now upgraded alongside "normal" Shotguns.
  • (Vanilla) Rangers and Skirmishers can now equip both Primary and Secondary Sawed Off Shotguns. Sharpshooters and Grenadiers can equip Secondary.

REQUIREMENTS

COMPANION MODS
  • Primary Secondaries + [WOTC] LW2 Primary Secondaries - this mod applies changes to Primary variants of Sawed Off Shotguns. Note: LW2 Primary Secondaries requires old Primary Secondaries and is not compatible with the new True Primary Secondaries.
  • [WOTC] Dual Wielded Pistols 2.0 - this mod allows to Dual Wield Sawed Off Shotguns, if you're subscribed to LW2 Primary Secondaries. Note: you can only dual wield sawed-off shotguns, you cannot dual wield a sawed-off + pistol. You can still use a pistol primary and sawed-off secondary on the same soldier separately.
  • [WOTC] Open Class Weapon Restrictions - this mod will allow mod-added classes that use Pistols to also use Sawed Off Shotguns in the same inventory slots. Classes that normally use Shotguns, will be able to use Sawed Offs in both Primary and Secondary slots.

COMPATIBILITY

This mod is intended to make Sawed Off Shotguns more accessible as a generic sidearm to classes that have not been specifically built around using Sawed Off Shotguns. As the result, classes that were built for Sawed Off Shotguns become a mess.

For example, LW2 Rangers retain their Point Blank and Both Barrels abilities, however since Secondary Sawed Off now has infinite ammo, Pump Action perk doesn't do anything anymore, and there's no reason to ever use Point Blank over Both Barrels.
  • This mod is safe to add or remove during a campaign in progress.
  • [WOTC] Iridar's Akimbo Class - compatible, but there's not a lot of synergy. Dual Sawed Offs are hilariously overpowered with the Scrapper build. Therefore Akimbo is not allowed to equip Sawed Off Shotguns by default, if you wish, you can enable them by editing XComClassData.ini in either mod.
    Chimera Classes - incompatible, breaks some of the Gunner's perks.

This mod is highly configurable through configuration files located in:

Gracias, without the perks from the LW classes these bad boys never saw use. This will make them useful to have

Rebalancing really makes sawed-offs an option that organically fits as a trade off. Will admit to having some teething problems in getting it to be compatible with some other mods, but that's why I'd like to thank how configurable this is. Nice!

Anyone else having trouble with the sawed off primary animations? As a secondary weapon and duel wielding they work great, but when used solo as a primary weapon they're using the same animation as the secondary sawed off shotgun. Also the inventory image for the mag sawed off primary is broken for me

Well, good news is that it does work, whatever the actual balance winds up being. I just had to go to the LoadoutAPI config and add it to PistolCategories in Mod Jam. Thanks for the response!

This mod is not meant to work with LWOTC out of the box. I don't know what Mod Jam does to this mod, if anything.

Asked on Mod Jam, but will ask here, in case this is a question you might be able to answer.

Despite having primaries assigned to all turned on in this mod, ASR assigning sawed offs to pistols, AND TPS assigning sawed offs to lrimary slot, both mod and mod jam configs... no sign of a primary sawed off shotgun. Secondary works a charm.

Am I missing something obvious? I assume it would be something Mod Jam related, due to scope, but I can't think of what.
