Description
SBS (SeaBoss Systems) ORCA Mk.II VERSA Rescue Boat

Override Code: 5468

The newest version of the ORCA Multipurpose Rescue Boat Family. Still small enough to spawn in a Beginner's boat house. The RUNABOUT Model is the base version of the ORCA Mk.II family. Seating for 10 people and bunks for 2 with a fully appointed galley.Equipment includes a Weather Station, SONAR, Dive Access, Tow Winch, 32 waypoint AP (Single Point or Route) with Touch Map Input or Manual GPS Entry. Also includes Automatic Flood Detection Sealing Interior doors (with individual KeyPad Overrides).

Much credit to numerous other authors who have provided MICROCONTROLLERS (ex. GLASS DISPLAY, COMPASS BAND, Moveable Map) and other features (ex. LIDAR) . I altered a few to have some additional functionality and/or change the colour scheme to match the ship theme.

The ORCA Mk.II has been updated to be DIESEL for main drives (using two large engines) instead of a DIESEL ELECTRIC Hybrid. There is still a Maneuvering Drive that is Electric but main propulsion is now direct DIESEL. Top sustained Speed is 47 knots with a range over 250km. Reverse is available using the Maneuvering Drives which are designed for taxing on pivot mounts (use controls in centre upper panel between PILOT and ENGINEERS station).

There are two modes of AutoPilot availabe: SINGLE and ROUTE.
- SINGLE will point the ship to the current WP defined in the AP.NAV Selection Window in the front of the pilot.
- ROUTE will continue to move from WP to WP in sequence until the last WP that has been defined has been reached

Waypoints are editable using the navigation panels to the left of the pilot. It is possible to add and edit waypoints even when the AP is active since there are two separate channels (READ and EDIT) which interface with the memory that holds 32 possible points. When the AP is active it uses the WP Number definied in the AP.NAV selection window (1x1 Monitor) just to the front of the pilot. When editing it uses the WP Number defined in the WP MAP and EDIT Panels (2x2 Monitors) to the left of the pilot.

Thanks for the comment, MrPanther. I think you may be referring to the VERSA version of the ORACA. :) I took a look and I can't replicate the error condition but I think what you found may be legit. I've never encountered it on the VERSA but I have on the HERMES when switching from RADAR to something else. What seems to happen is that the W value is being considered as global variable even among completely separate LUA modules. It's almost like it gets locked or is not able to be set as it is considered local to another modules such that it can't be set by the system call to get the screen width. It's funny in that it may only happen one time and then every single time after that in which I spawn the HERMES it operates as expected. It's weird and I haven't been able to find a fix. I tried explicitly naming the getWidth variables specific to their modules but that didn't work. Oh well... it is what it is.. but still drives me crazy. :)

I was using this in my career, and the winch just was not long enough, ended up putting a huge winch on it, now its too long :( but i absolutely love this boat.

Hey Matt, there is no LIDAR, Sensor Pod (deployed mast), water canon, crane or cargo hatch, sensor station or flares. For cargo there's a rail and MAG setup on the top. It's a stripped down version of the Versa that operates more like a passenger tender.

what's the main diff between this one and the other orca 2?

Just turn the engine keys located in the lower console between the PILOT and ENGINEERS seat. Everything else after that is automatic (auto start, auto gear shift). Just increase the throttle and away you go. NOTE: ~15% or below automatically disengages the clutch to the prop but keeps the engines still turning. This prevents the engines from stalling out at low power.

If you want to use the Electric Drives (designed for reverse and tight maneuvering) turn them on using the switch in the composite panel in the upper console locate between the PILOT and ENGINEERS seat. After that you can use the throttle buttons in the composite block or use the keys assigned to the chairs to adjust the power. There is a reverse button in that same panel as well.
NOTE: Reverse is not available for the Diesels; the Diesels are the "power" engines for speed and towing, the electrics are for taxing and slow maneuvers.
