Must Have Mods for a Fun & Challanging Campaign
4 items
Description
This is a compilation of the best mods for Rome 2 Total War.
The combination of these mods makes the Rome 2 Grand Campaign a challanging and fun experience as they all improve upon existing mechanics which did not have as big of an impact as they should have had. I have altered and tweaked them to make them all compatible and to work well in conjunction. Although the game still keeps its vanilla feeling, you will definitively notice the difference.
The links to all the individual mods i have combined will be listed below. Credit goes to those very talented modders.

If you have a suggestion or a mod that you want to see added ( and if it fits the scope of this mod ) write a comment. If you like this mod give it a thumbs up and also on all the individuel mods i listed below ;)

What this mod does

- Making the AI more aggressive. This leads to situations where you may be caught in a multi front war or where you have to face other large AI factions mid to late campaign. Diplomacy has also changed. Other factions will not endlessly hate you anymore after a war but are more open to negotiations. You´ll also have more diplomatic options to choose from.

- Most buildings now require resources to be built, especially economically valuable buildings. So you either have to negotiate trade deals or have to conquer regions that hold the required resources. There also several new resources which you can obtain in your campaigns. Some resources can also be obtained by building special industry buildings (which may require a different resource to be build in the first place ;-) ).

- Changing political values to make civil wars less likely in the early campaign and to provide more bonuses or penalties based on your political power. Traits and talents have more impact, both positive and negative. Diplomatic missions now have more possible outcomes.

- Changing economic and upkeep values. Units are generally 30% more expensive and the income from taxes is lower than before. This is compensated with new options to make money. The newly added resources and the altered slave mechanic, which now can boost you economy quite a lot together with the "Sell Slaves" edict. So waging war and making Slaves is a viable option for short term income boosts.

- A lot of little things, like wonder effects that are more significant, armour improvements are better as well as being able to recruit more and better units from your client states and satrapies.

- Changing combat to be more enjoyable and realistic aswell as making deployables and tower defenses more useful. This is my own contribution to the mod and it is based on my Dynamic Combat & Morale Overhaul mod which informations you can find in the link directly below.

Also I am switching out generals with bad PO traits when they are not in combat with those with traits that make them better governors.

So after following your advice I can now see the importance of not randomly selecting skills and talents when upgrading generals and agents. I had to go out of my comfort zone and do things I don't normally do to deal with public order. There is a sill for Heroes, Champions and Warriors that allows them to counter bad PO due to cultural differences. I am now using them to stabilize PO rather than constantly leaving them in an Army to train troops. Also building more temples than normal to counter squalor and disease. So ultimately there is no problem with PO or squalor in the mod. The problem was I was playing the mod the wrong way.

Ok good advice. I will pay better attention to the details. Really nice compilation btw. Saves a ton of mod slots. Been a big fan of your battle mod for a long time.

that can have many factors. Maybe you have a General with bad traits, youre political power is too high and people hate you for it, you just recently conquered this region, or it has been raided recently, maybe food shortage, maybe agent actions, maybe cultural issues, maybe buildings with negative PO traits.

if you have a problematic region, you can deal with it in a lot of ways, send a statesman on a mission to improve PO for a while, put agents and generals with good traits into the region, build PO boosting buildings ( you can dismantle them later again), Bread and Games Edict or send an army in to garrison.

Ok. Also there seem to be constant rebellions. Even when lowering or exempting regions from tax. How do you deal with this?

@tone1492
you can manage diseases via sanitation like in Attila. Make sure you build aqueducts, government buildings or religious buildings.

This is really good, but why the constant plague and how do you manage it?

Im glad you like it ;)
