1V89 Newcastle to York

Thanks for looking in on the final scenario of the 1V89 trilogy involving the 0900 ex Glasgow to Reading HST125 service, which was current in September 2018. The train is due to leave Newcastle at the correct time of 11.42, but other timings cannot be replicated. (At the end of the scenario, where it says platform 8, it should read 9. You'll see what I mean when you get there!)

The scenario itself takes place in the summer of 1984 when you will drive an HST125 on the Newcastle to York segment. In 2018, cross country services were generally provided by 220/221 (Voyagers), other DMUs and EMUs, but still with a few HST125's. 1V89 was indeed due to be a 220/221 DEMU. The ECML is not electrified in this scenario and so timings and line speeds will be different to those advertised in 2018. However, if there is an identification code in an AI train description (press F6 to toggle this function on and off) then that train existed in September/October 2018.

All other AI is fictional and is included to make the scenario more interesting. There are over 50 moving AI trains. Static AI is held in sidings, some of which are no longer connected to the mainline. Again, that AI is there to bulk out the scenario. I have had to use locos and rolling stock available in the ECML and European Loco Asset packs.

The run has been extended to the full length of the line; some 79 miles in all. It should take about 85 minutes to complete. If you do not have time to do the whole run in a fell swoop, then consider driving to Darlington first (about 45 minutes), saving, and then later drive to York (again about 45 minutes). There should be plenty of time to complete the run and hit your target times at the intermediate timing points.

The previous two scenarios involving 1V89 were from Durham to Darlington and Darlington to York. If not already done so, you may wish to try these runs before you enjoy this one, in order to learn the line, but it is not necessary to have completed either or both before having a go at this trip. I created the full run as it was suggested that a 20 to 30 minute scenario was not quite long enough. Similarly, I have included descriptions for all moving AI trains, as suggested by another commenter.

I have run the scenario in both 32 bit and 64 bit with no problems. The only DLC required is the original ECML and the Euro Loco Asset pack.

I hope you enjoy the run, but in any event, please leave any constructive criticism in Steam, so that I can bear your comments in mind for future scenarios.
