Akashar's Verdant Necromancer Class

Description
Verdant Necromancers (Geo/Necro) serve the cycle of life and death.

They sacrifice their own life force to grow plant elementals from the corpses of their enemies, and use them as loci to focus their power.

Indeed, every member has the creed of their Order tattooed on their left ankle: “From Death, Life.” For this reason, they are often called “Seedshapers” in polite society (and “Rotmages” behind their backs).

There is a symbiotic relationship between a Verdant Necromancer and his Seed Guardian. The mage sacrifices his vitality to give birth to and evolve the elemental, and the elemental in returns poisons and drains the lifeforce of his master’s enemies to restore him.

Inspired by the Golgari Guild of Ravnica, from Magic the Gathering.

PLAYSTYLE

The class requires a strategic mindset and a keen eye for battlefield positioning, as most of your damage will come from exploding your elemental.

Therefore, it has a decidedly Golgari “sacrifice resources to gain power” feel.

It’s all about tradeoffs:

1) Your spells can do devastating damage at very low AP costs, but they can only target Poisoned enemies, Seeded enemies (new status) or corpses. Therefore you need to work in concert with your Seed Guardian: the elemental has to debuff your enemies first to make them receptive to your spells.

2) You sacrifice huge chunks of your Vitality to cast anything. You heal off the damage your Seed Guardian deals to survive your own spells. Therefore, you need to constantly make a judgment call between chaining together more spells vs limiting your exposure until the elemental can restore you.

3) The Seed Guardian has powerful abilities other summons don’t have, but it only lasts 2-4 turns. Therefore, you need to Seed or kill at least one enemy before it expires, so you can immediately raise another one.

You should also pay attention to positioning:

- You raise Seed Guardians from Seeded enemies or corpses, so think ahead about where your next summon will be.

- You’re summoning ginormous trees! They don’t navigate tight spaces well. On the upside, you can place your Seed Guardian strategically to create choke point or to force enemies to waste action points to walk all the way around them.

- Cycle of life & death - remember? Be careful that your allies don’t get caught in the blast radius as you chain summon Seed Guardians: Raise elemental -> explode elemental -> raise elemental -> explode elemental. (Exploding elementals. Nuff’ said.)
