Description
The Malignant destroyer class is a space-only warship designed to destroy or severely cripple large and slow-moving ships and stations. To achieve this it carries two large missile types and a gravity gun. The first missile is guided by Whip's Optical Missile Guidance Script and allows the Malignant to manually guide the missile towards a chosen point of impact. The second missile type is guided by Rdav’s Guided Missile Script, and will continue in the ship’s direction while searching for an enemy within a 800 m radius. When an enemy is detected, it will change course to intercept and detonate its warhead upon impact. The gravity gun fires a kinetic projectile which can penetrate several layers of armor at short to medium ranges, but it can not be guided once fired. These weapons can be reloaded in their respective chambers.

In addition, the Malignant has two large, automated rocket launcher turrets controlled by Whip's Turret AI Slaving Script. These are added to fire at targets roughly in front of the ship, supported by the regular missile- and Gatling turrets. The front part of the Malignant is therefore heavily armored and lined with decoys, so that enemy fire is drawn away from the weapons systems.

The Malignant carries on-board production equipment to produce its own ammunition and components. It also has a drone bay on the hangar deck, containing a Ceres Mk.IV Mining Drone and a Welan Mk.II Utility Drone for resource gathering and repairs in space. It can not negotiate the gravity of a planet, and has to use its Ghost Mk.IV (C) Dropship for away-missions to a planet’s surface.

Using the Gravity Gun:
Advantages:
▪ While the missiles need time to accelerate, the gravity gun projectile exits the ship at 100 m/s, and can do maximum kinetic damage immediately.
▪ It has relatively low reload speed (27 sec. in survival)

Disadvantages:
▪ The projectile can not be guided after firing, and hitting moving targets are difficult.
▪ The longer the range, the more difficult it is to accurately predict its point of impact.

Using the Beam-riding Missiles:
Advantages:
▪ The missile is guided by moving the sights, and can therefore hit a specific point at long range as long as the sights stay on that point.
▪ The sights can be moved to guide the missile towards a slow-moving target.
▪ The manual guidance means that decoys etc. will not interfere with the missile’s flight.

Disadvantages:
▪ The longer the range, the more difficult to effectively hit a moving target.
▪ Even moderately fast-moving targets are difficult to hit at any range.
▪ Electronics in the missile are vulnerable to enemy fire.
▪ To do maximum kinetic damage, the missile need 1 km to accelerate to 100 m/s.

Using the Active Homing Missiles:
Advantages:
▪ After locking onto a target, the missile will adjust its course and hit it even if it is moving.
▪ The warhead detonates on proximity, and the missile does not need to travel at high speed to do damage.

Disadvantages:
▪ The missile will lock on to any large grid that is powered and considered enemy/neutral, regardless of what you were originally aiming at. This also means that it will choose its own impact point on an enemy ship.
▪ The above point may send the missile after detached decoys or powered debris.
▪ Electronics in the missile are vulnerable to enemy fire.

General characteristics:
▪ Crew: 4 bridge officers + CO and XO
▪ Length: 145 m
▪ Width: 57,5 m
▪ Height: 52,5 m
▪ Mass (standard equipped): 6 399 749 kg
▪ Block count: 5855
▪ Block count (with smallcraft): 6837

Features:
▪ Carries components to fire a total of 20 missiles and 10 railgun projectiles.
▪ Has a hangar, supporting smallcraft of various sizes.
▪ Carries a Ghost Mk.IV (C) Dropship.
▪ It also carries a Ceres Mk.IV Mining Drone and a Welan Mk.II Utility Drone for resource gathering and repairs in space.
▪ Three Jump Drives with a maximum range of 1156 km.
▪ Several bridge stations with displays showing the ship’s status.
▪ An internal projector to aid in repairing the ship.
▪ Has combat repair welders attached to its turrets, increasing the damage they can take.
▪ Solar panels and various production equipment for prolonged independent operations.
▪ Airlocks compatible with all T.N.F. ships and stations.
▪ Contains fuel, ammunition and components – tested in survival.

Known issues:
▪ The active scripts may impact the sim speed upon pasting the blueprint into the world. If this happens, just restart the map/server and the sim speed will be back to normal. If the problem persists, turn all scripts off.
▪ Wait a few seconds between firing the homing missiles. The second missile may start its guidance too quickly and scrape across the side of the ship. Waiting until the first missile is clear of the ship reduces the risk of this.
Do not fire the missiles or gravity gun while the ship is moving, the chance that the missiles/projectile will hit the ship is high if you do.
▪ Be aware that when firing the homing missiles, they will not align with the centre of the ship’s sights, but slightly down and to the left.

▪ The radar panel uses Whip’s Turret Based Radar script by Whiplash141.
▪ The information screens use MMaster's LCD 2 script.
▪ The screen showing the ship's heading is using Whip's Artificial Horizon Redux script by Whiplash141.
▪ Diagnostics screen is using the SIMPL|Ship Integrity Monitoring Program Lite script by Whiplash141.
▪ The doors and airlocks are operated by Whip's Auto Door and Airlock Script by Whiplash 141.
▪ The main turrets’ targeting system is controlled by Whip's Turret AI Slaving Script by Whiplash141.
▪ The beam-riding missiles’ targeting system is controlled by Whip's Optical Missile Guidance Script by Whiplash141.
▪ The active homing missiles’ targeting system is controlled by Rdav’s Guided Missile Script by Rdav.

Dont know why the missile scripts doesnt work on Malignant Destroyer and yhe Inferno Frigate.
Havent test other TNF builds right now.

Maybe a n update broke it ?

@niallcbowers: Thank you! I used an advanced rotors to slant them 45° along the sloped blocks of the outer hull, and a landing gear to keep them locked. Try pressing "Show on HUD" of the "Starboard Missile Tubes" advanced rotor and find it inside the ship. If you destroy it and the nearby landing gear, and then move the ship upwards a little, you will see the different grids.

@Calen_Loki: Hi, thank you! Regarding the hangar it is specifically designed so that the 'Ghost' can turn 360° while yellow-light "hooked" to the connector. You exit the hangar after turning the dropship's front towards the opening, and turn it back after entering so that you can walk past it on each side.

Your ships are AMAZING. cannot stress this enough. might be being a noob here, but I cant for the life of me work out how the missile pods on the side are slanted. Is it a mod or am i missing something?

Gave it a try, and have some suggestions.
1. Ship hangar doors are too small for the craft that is there. Also it would be easier to fly in/out forward/rewerse. Otherwiese you can't see your butt and angle when entering sideways.
2. There are just 2 gatling turrets and one rotor turret aiming downwards. That's quite weak angle.
3. Small grid rotor turrets are IMO better. Easier to hide and armour, more compact, prettier.

Overall good job. I especially like sepaation of black "core box" and grey "fenders".

I like this ship, for reasons.

Thank you!

Firebird_528, I use photoshop to cut out the decks from screenshots, then place them on the blue background with added text etc. Any basic editing program will do!

Nice one, live your last destroyer but which program do you use to create such beautiful floor Plans?
