Meaningful Estates

Description
In my opinion the problems caused by estates were too easily resolved, this is my attempt to rectify that.

This mod makes it so that it now costs 1000 gold to give an estate. This represents the fact that you have lost the income that estate would bring you.
Conversely stripping a character of an estate gives you 750 gold, representing the estate coming back under your control.

I desperately wanted to make it so that giving away an estate reduced the income that estate generated by some fraction, unfortunately it does not seem possible to track which estate goes where, nor the number of estates a character has.

Issues:

The 'estate granted' incident that occurs when you grant an estate has a chance of randomly occuring, however, it should have no effect.

The mod is not currently multiplayer compatible

Mauiaw's campaign mods:

This is a collection of the mods I use to make the campaign game harder. Mostly they just change small aspects of the game mechanics to make them more punishing for the player

While I follow the reasoning I don't agree with the outcome. The King would still receive revenue from the estates in the form of taxes so moneys lost to the state are recooped somewhat. To each there own, just wanted to put that thought out there.

I see, sounds bothersome! You probably know more about scripting than I do then. I'll try to take a peek at your codes, see if I can somehow see a solution - I am however working on a trait overhaul already (also a lot scripting), so it might take a while. I could add you if you don't mind, then I can message you if I find out anything

Actually, this is a scripted mod. There are no events related to granting estates; if you check the code you will see that I basically have to track mouse clicks to work out when the player hands over an estate. If you have an idea of what you want to do feel free to cannibalise what you need!

Hey, seems like you've had a lot similar ideas to me, damn ;) I was thinking the same with reduced income when an estate was given out, simulating you've given away some precious land. I am quite sure it could be done with scripting, have you tried that? I am currently finishing my own overhaul, with estates low on the priority list, so I haven't tried it yet.

Well I tried to track how many estates were owned directly vs by other characters. However, when a character dies or a region is lost it is impossible to tell how many estates change hands. So I wouldn't know when to stop applying the estate cost. Unfortunately, this is the best system I can think of for now.

Is there anyway to make estates cost a certain amount of gold EACH turn? Or is it only possible to have a one-time expense?

I think 400 gold per turn per estate is not unreasonable. Gold is just too easy even at the higher difficulties.

Lastly, corruption is too low, way too low. Most of my provinces have 0% corruption even without special buildings, and a young governor.

Fully agree with your approach. Estates should decrease income and increase loyalty. I hope CA updates the game with a more workout estate system.
