Description
Hello, soldier. Welcome to the Extraterrestrial Combat project, or XCOM for short. We are Earth's last and only defense against the alien invaders who have taken over our governments and convinced humanity to obey them using widespread propaganda and dubious mind-control burgers. I'm Central Officer Johnson. I'm here to act as the Commander's right hand man, and relay his orders to you. Once you're ready to fight some bug-eyed monsters, pick up a Portal Gun and head on board the Skyranger. Together, we're gonna take back Earth, and send these xenos back to whatever planet, dimension, or halloween costume store they came from. Central Officer Johnson, over and out.

Hello! I'm back after two or three months with a brand new puzzle, "Skyranger", celebrating the imminent release of XCOM 2: War of the Chosen, a huge expansion pack for quite possibly my favourite game of all time (along with Portal 2, of course).

Skyranger is a mind-melting puzzle focusing on propulsion and repulsion gels. It's taken me about a month on-and-off to make, so I really hope it can offer you guys an enjoyable challenge.

Progress with tests has been slow recently, I know, but trust me - I have some extremely exciting Portal-related stuff coming up, far beyond the scope of anything I've ever done before. Stay tuned!

Difficulty: Hard

Music: Portal 2: The Reunion 1 by Mike Morasky.

As a matter of fact this map is a challenging one that deserves all the attention  so don't get me wrong.

Wow... that was a tough one, took me an hour roughly. Too bad you have a different opinion about repetitive moves than the majority of the players. If it wasn't for the confusing backtracking this would be another favourite of mine. (it's a thumbs up)

This map leaves me as a player a bit uncertain if one prepared everything correctly, if some moves are actually intended AND if at worst you have to roll back some of the gel preparations - or let's say "roll back AND forth" depending on were you are.
Well, I watched the official playthrough and I did everything as it is intended, even if not in the correct order. I can't even remember what MY order was XD

I was more than halfway through (about to somehow coat the runway to the exit) when I thought about the connection I had to prepare. There were two fizzlers to be deactivated and a panel to be turned around, but I only had two cubes. Man! XD
After some time it dawned on me.

oh...my...god. Finally done. Amazing and evil design. I spent hours in a first play session weeks ago and had to give up. Today I was determined and finally reached the second cube!...but there was so much more after that. I kept thinking I was close to the end, but I wasn't. Borderline not fun anymore, but I was probably just in a bad mood. Still very cool.

Only ~14 Demon chambers left until I am done with all your public puzzles (hopefully not all are as hard as Skyranger!)

Played this one again after a while, must say it wasn't quite as difficult for me this time. Felt like one step naturally led to the next. Maybe because I'd subconsciously remember what the right moves were? I don't know. I do know that in other maps I did remember some of the key moves outright 😅 Very well designed, however.

My only complaint would be that when repainting the surface to go to the blue gel room blue after you've reached the blue gel room, to also allow yourself to get up onto the platform that eventually leads to the final room, when you use it as a runway to get to the blue gel room again you occasionally miss the blue gel, run on the still-orange ramp instead and fall into the goo. That's assuming this is the correct solution of course.

Difficulty: 6.5/10 (7.5 the first time around)
Design (objective score): 9.5/10
Enjoyed (subjective score): 8.75/10

This is probably the most difficult chamber I've played so far, I love it. Your gel puzzles are always the hardest for me to solve for some reason.

i think i may have sequence broke by accidentally b-hopping after putting repulsion gel in the final room, using the b-hop to get back to re-spawn the normal cube whilst having a portal in the final room

You rooms are good, although I dislike the use of water and having to restart the puzzle if you slip into it.
