This weird semi-sequel and semi-expansion is an enhancement of the first game's mechanics with new areas, weapons, and a new character. However, I feel as if a lot of these mechanics, mods, and weapons should've been added to the first game when it was getting this definitive upgrade, as in my opinion Riptide has better gameplay, and as an added plus you can send your Dead Island character build into this game. I do like the added personality but there's less variety of the quests, as most of it is just "get this item/find this location for this character." which kind of makes it a hassle to get through if you want to get xp. Also the final boss is just goofy, but if you liked the first game you might like this one.

its a pretty fun game to play. do note that this game's performance is depending on how well you can run dying light, and requires some tinkering. Theres a mod to remove the weird post processing effects and increase the fov, and the game runs smoothly after that. I played this on a mx350, and while it took some tinkering it was worth as the game is super fun to play., with only some fps drops here and there. Planning to try this with friends as it is easy to get into.

If you're used to post-RE4, it takes a bit of getting used to, but it's a game that still holds up, like re4. While its not technically the "start" of the franchise, this and re4 are good ones to start with if you want to get into resident evil. If you want to continue with the series, just make sure you play the OG 2 and 3 first before you do the remakes, as the remakes are on a different timeline compared to the later resident evil games.

one of the first games I played on steam when I made my account. a bit clunky, but there's fun to be had.
