Its fun! Don't get me wrong, even solo with a fairly steep (but climbable, even for me) learning curve. The negatives start when you really start playing this game for any large amount of time. I've noticed systems, ai quirks, and pathing issues. It still feels a bit like a demo, and I'm not even sure the game is still being worked on. The enemy ai carrier seems to cheat and not need replenishment, and can sling missiles a little too quickly and indiscriminately. Your own Petrals when tasked with airlifting units out from calm, (barely any waves at all) seas, they decide they're thirsty and get lost in the deep blue sauce. Your units sometimes get stuck trying to climb vertical cliff faces like they're spider man. Oh! And the enemy carrier knows where you are at all times it seems, bee lining it for you across even full maps (64 islands.) I could continue, but I think I've made my point. At most, I think it's worth picking up when its heavily discounted and trying it out. But absolutely not at full price... there's not enough to justify it in my opinion. Bugthesda title, breaking mods that the game needs to fix it as usual. Smh, don't bother with this one.

I'm probably going to be yelled at a lot because of this, I hope not. But the game in its current state just doesn't feel all that fun, the rare samples are locked behind higher difficulties (I play solo a lot, because I've been super unlucky in public lobbies), and the balancing for the enemy strength in each mission sort of feels all over the place. I definitely hope they work on those. Aside that, it's a very gorgeous game, I would recommend giving it a try in the future when all the bugs, balancing, and such are worked out. But as of now, I'd wait. Thanks for reading this through, and have a nice day.

PS, if you're one of those folks who shoot others to collect their samples at the end of each mission.. you're partly to blame for this negative review.

Extra, after some more playing around. It's much the same, still recommend waiting and checking back. After some more hours into it, still recommend against it. Balancing is atrocious and seems even worse.

Story is meh, online is a dumpster fire. Cheaters, modders, griefers, etc, all ruining online lobbies. Don't waste your time with it.

not friendly to new players

Absolutely a blast, its fun and an awesome arcade wingsuit thingy, try it!

i used to play this with friends, it is a fun game if you have even just one other person to play it with..

Pretty good if you've got friends to play it with, otherwise.. well its just sad memories for me now, you might enjoy it.
