What a spectacular disaster of a game. Pretty much anything and everything that made Battlefield...well, Battlefield has been either stripped out (like 5 player squad, a traditional server browser or Battle Log system) or compromised (Classes replaced with Specialists, sounds are awful, weapon count is beyond pathetic.) I could go on a rant but I'll just list the pros (what little there are) and the cons (oh which there are many.

Pros:
- The actual selection of weapons from the little that we have is pretty cool and unique with some coo futuristic but realistic weapon designs included like the AC-42 for example.
- Third person for vehicles has been made more usable.
- Weapon attachment cosmetics look good (though could be slightly cooler.)
- Portal is a big plus for this game and something that should be expanded on in the future. Just......not here.

Cons (strap in):
- Gunplay is the worst out of all the Battlefields. It feels terrible to shoot at someone, balance is all over the place, and good luck even trying to fight other infantry as most of the time you're gonna be running. It's a 50/50 shot as to why your running though. It could be running long distances just to see some one or running away from the vehicle spam. There are clear good and bad weapons and most of the time, you're probably gonna be stuck spamming the PP-19 Bizon and AC-42 as those are the best guns in the game unless something changed.
- The sounds and OST......DEAR GOD. What were they thinking......were they thinking at all?! Absolutely laughable sounds for firearms, vehicles, explosives and so on. The character voices are also ultra cringe of the highest order but I'll get to that in a bit. Battlefield used to be praised for it's sounds. The cracking of sniper fire, the punch of shotguns, the constant thumping of LMGs and so on. Now it's laughable. Every gun sounds like a peashooter especially the sniper rifles. The DM7 and SVK (at least to me) sound nearly identical. And the soundtrack. Trust me when I say there are very VERY few other games that will make you want to plug your ears with water and stick a corkscrew in them like 2042. It is worse than nails on a chalkboard. It's kinda like if someone took all the screaming kids from the MW2 era, and used their voices alongside a bunch of people just hitting objects to make this total train wreck of an OST. And I struggle to call this an OST.
- Modes. The game modes are lacking and I have a sneaking suspicion it was because they expected us to make all the modes for them via Portal. It wouldn't surprise me. Anyways, you only get two modes: 128 player Conquest and some other mode that I can't be bothered to remember the name to which is basically just attackers capture points and push defenders back, defenders try to stop them. Now unless I'm wrong they do have 64 player versions of those modes but from what I saw those were time limited so they might be gone. (Spoiler alert: the 64 player modes actually worked. Gee, I wonder why.) Portal fairs better in that you can basically make what you want and that is a good thing. However, DICE should not have expected us to make the modes for them. We are not developers (well a decent chunk of us aren't. Modders got some talent and they could make a much better game than these fools.) Even if someone IS a developer, it's not OUR job to make modes for YOUR game DICE. You are supposed to supply us with content, not the other way around.
- Hazard Zone is a joke. It's fun for like the first 2 matches and then it devolves into boring and annoying. Don't bother with this terrible excuse for a game mode. Just go play Hunt Showdown or Escape from Tarkov, games that have far more effort and care put into them.
- Specialist are c r i n g e. I can picture it right now that someone at DICE suggested this idea after having played/seen games like Overwatch, Valorant, and heck. If they were really observant, maybe they paid attention to R6 Siege or even Battle Born and Law Breakers (rip to both of those games by the way.) So one day, they come up with an absolutely BRILLIANT idea. "Hey, why don't we up and remove the old class system that no one has complained about and has been one of the most important cores to our game franchise and replace them with WACKY and WILD characters like these other hero shooters?" And someone else in DICE leadership goes, "Y E A H." I can only imagine what the smart ones in DICE were thinking. Obviously, they can't do much to overturn this decision especially since we know that DICE operates under a "Don't hwurt the fweelings of our workers pwese." I'm serious. You aren't allowed to say no to an idea even if it's a terrible one because of fear of hurting someone's feelings. *proceeds to slam head through dry wall* Putting that aside, these characters are terrible and to showcase that, I will compare them to Siege's characters. 2042 "heroes" are bland, childish, brash, annoying, HORRIFIC to listen to, and have nothing interesting about them. Siege's characters have lore, personality, aren't nearly as annoying as these guys (maybe because they don't talk much and when they do they say something that not only fits their characters, but also realizes the tone of the game,) and one thing I didn't mention was that Siege's characters actually look cool or are pleasant to look at (if you know, you know.) Apart from Irish and Casper, I don't like the look of any of these guys. Mackay looks like the fricken TF2 Scout. Might as well talk like him too but he can't even do that. None of these characters have personality. And oh my god the voice lines. Look, this has been meme'ed to oblivion so I won't discuss that here, but let's make sure that "Angel does it again" forever lives in infamy and haunts DICE till the day that studio closes.
-Performance is as Angry Joe would put it, "Turrible." If you have a high end PC, don't expect to get above 80 FPS. Personally, if a game can reach 60 FPS I'm fine with that. I'm not the type of person to care about ultra high frames and if a game can reach 60 Frames and stay on 60 Frames that is A-Ok with me.....Now..........That being said...DICE. YOU DONE F*** IT UP. This performance is so horrible, the Taken King himself would recoil at the existence of this abominable game. "Take this I shall not." Constant stutters, long load times, rubber banding that feels like you're on a bungee cord, l a a a a a a a a a a g, and oh, can't forget about the disconnects and errors. I won't talk about the bugs but you can just google that and you'll find the answers easy enough. The game is held together with paper acting as tape. If you have a high end PC, don't expect to get very high end performance out of this game. If you have a low end PC, don't expect the game to work.
- Lack of communication and no content more than 100+ days after launch. This is pretty self explanatory but still needs to be elaborated on a little because this hurts the score of the game for me. DICE is infrequent with comms and when they do say something, it's usually bad news like delays or some joke of a cosmetic like the beanie. No content 100+ days after launch in this day and age is unacceptable especially for the prices that some of us paid (I really hope the ones who paid $120+ can/have made that money back.) Compare this to R6 Extraction which I believe 2 weeks into it's launch, got a new event, new cosmetics, a new operator, and new equipment. And I won't mention the early bug fixes that the devs of that game sent out when players reported them during those two weeks including crash issues. This is failure of comms and bare bones content 100+ days after the launch of the game is embarrassing, disrespectful, and somewhat criminal if not outright.

Concluding thoughts: A total disaster of a game. How this was let out to the public in good conciseness is beyond me. I may never know why but frankly, I don't care. Stay FAR away from this game.
