You are a sheep climbing multiple towers in order to survive a Nightmare that comes after you every night for 8 days, isn't that weird enough as a premise? Because turns out that Catherine is deep, has really cool characters and the love story you are deciding will be good. there's no right or wrong, just your decisions.
The first impression is a bit misleading, yeah, it's a puzzle game where you must climb a tower but that's just one part of the package, you will need to socialize with your pals and completely strangers(?), you will hear the stories of those who are around you, listen carefully and then decide what to do, it's up to you.
Visually is much cleaner and smooth than the previos version of the PS3/360, combination between animated scenes and in-game/engine graphics is superb, something that Atlus knows how to do and one of their distinguish points, music is nice, characters are really good and the story is as amazing as interesting.
