This game is not as great as Rise of the Tomb Raider was, but it still had great moments throughout in terms of game play and story. The game play, similar to previous titles, is fun and enjoyable, from the interesting stealth mechanics, the hunting, and the all out gun play stays true to form. In terms of story it has a very strong and entertaining start and finish in terms of action set pieces as well as the cut scenes and character development between Lara and Jonah.

However, the story does sag around the 60% mark as the classic "moments before reaching our goal, there is a massive setback" trope happens VERY often, which can make the game more frustrating as I just began anticipating a setback happening, and when it does I just think "how long is this going to take". By the fourth time this happened, I made me very discouraged to even attempt any of the side missions as they became just another setback from the main story IMO.

To its credit, this 'slump' does not happen for the majority of the time, and the story picks itself back up during the oil refinery level where Lara basically grows tired of everyone's ♥♥♥♥ and goes on a murderous rampage through the jungle (which was very fun). It also continues on during the last level where Lara teams up with a previous enemy (these Mayan creatures) to fight the over arching enemy of the three games (I wish you got to encounter more of those creatures!!).

Overall, despite the pacing issues and the inconsistency compared to the previous game, it is still definitely worth playing for the jungle setting, Lara Crofts story, and the game play (7.5/10).
