Good game, and free of charge.

A puzzle/walking simulation with a story set in 4 areas, my review is about the first 2 areas. The first area is an apartment building, player needs to set the right time according to event times found in notes for clock/alarms to unlock doors. The concept is not new but devs added interesting elements like mirror rooms, puzzles inside puzzles like you need to set the time of 3 clocks correctly in order to reach the final room. In the last room it looks like time is distorted and the space is twisted, clock hands floating in the air and the floor leads to the ceiling and you can walk on walls.

Once out of the apartment, the next area is a library with floating floors and moveable platforms like it is in Hogwarts. If the core in the apartment is to set the time correctly, then in the library it is about finding specific books and trigger buttons in a much complicated and layered maze. With the spiral stairs going like roller coasters and tall but narrow bookshelf mazes, I was destined to lose my way and started to feel woozy. This maze instantly brought back my memory of how I hated the giant camel dungeon in Zelda: Breath of the Wild, a frustrating experience that I gave up the game. Syke does not have that huge of the maze but in fear I quit before the maze became a nightmare.

In my 1 hour gameplay I had fun, I only wish there's hints, or a button to skip some puzzles or just let player go to the next area when they were stuck. Nevertheless, Syke is a good game and worth 2 hours.

Nice Sokoban/shooting game, fun to play, made by the developer of DUSK.

Unlike most Sokoban games I've played, DUSK '82 does not demand the player to think a couple steps ahead, it is relatively a relaxing game, offers 30 levels and can be finished in 2 hours. The maps are not too big nor too complicated, each has a core puzzle to solve and once the player understands the puzzle can be fast to clean.

The shooting made this game stand out among hundreds of Sokoban games on Steam. The goal is to eliminate every enemy in a level. Different weapons work on different enemies and you could only carry one at a time, it is important to understand when to take which. Also, you need to take advantage of settings like using a conveyor to take the bullet to the target, lure the enemy to step on a landmine. The smartest design might be that later level which has useless keys blocking useful keys. DUSK '82 does not offer a hint system but it has good guidance, as in previous levels players are well taught to switch a trapdoor to eliminate enemies, it is natural to think to leave a key on the trapdoor to get rid of it. The only thing is there is no rewind, so try not to press the wrong key.

Like it is in DUSK, a soap is better than any weapon.

I recommend this game, regardless whether you've played DUSK previously.

Early Access Review
Nice game at a great price.

Currently the first episode with 5 levels is ready to play, with another 2 episodes in development. It took me around 5 hours to finish a run, with lots of replay value.

Store pictures of Fallen Aces show some firearms and melee weapons but no, this game is not a FPS. If you are into stealth then you could discover the perfect path to avoid all and be a shadow - Be Sam Fisher or Hitman aka 47 to finish a mission without any chaos is doable. Or, you could pick up whatever handy and go straight to the main entrance and pick up fights with mobs. In either way you should have some fun, this game is balanced, rich in contents and worth playing in a different style.

Take the first level for example. I happened to go out of the apartment building via the rooftop rather than the street level, so I missed out on the crazy shooting before the car crash, and all the stores with secrets but I was able to enjoy the city view from above. I was fast to jump between buildings and reach the destination in 15 mins, then the level results said I missed all the secrets, that was when I decided to go back and play again. Actually, you'll lose the fun if you only aim to get point A to point B fast. The map design is wonderful, usually 2-3 ways to get into a locked room via secret paths or a key found in a dumpster lead by some notes.

Apart from dealing with mobs, you'll also be Sherlock Holmes to collect clues for a murder case in a mansion, then save a mystery lady in a modern club with a hidden dungeon. The fun part is there are always secrets to discover, you never know what's coming, like, who would've thought electricity in water under a safe street.

I especially enjoyed the first 2 levels. At the harbor I took the regular way to cross the river by a tram, only to find a much easier way is to climb up a tower. The map is much bigger than I expected, you will miss some items/places/ways to kill in the first run, like when you play a Hitman game, playing again almost always brings up new surprises.

The lively comic style cutscenes are second to none, OST totally fits in 90s and well synced when conspiracy happens.

Still Fallen Aces is not flawless. I found some unreadable notes in the mansion, and for the 90k money I collected but no way to spend. I believe the later episodes will be more polished, and I look forward to them.

If Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is popular then this game should, too.

Sultan Jumps has a similar setting, a mystery jumping system that once you jump, it can be hard to estimate how far you'd go and to judge where you'd land because in this game, once a jump is made you can't change direction in the air. What you can do in the air is press Space for a double jump, or release the arrow key to land shorter, making this climbing game a lot more difficult than it looks like.

You need to fall a good amount of time to learn when to double jump, how far you should launch a jump, how to use the wall to change direction mid-air, how fast to press Space to reach a certain distance etc., and try to enjoy the harsh(funny) words whenever your character fail a jump. Sultan Jumps can also be taken as a strategy game, too many times I find myself wondering whether to use a single jump or double jump or wall jump to reach to the next platform.

I played an hour and honestly didn't go far. I wish there's an easy mode that lets player do regular double jumps and see the ending. But honestly, the game did well in what it is programmed to be and I recommend this game to anyone who thinks double jump is a piece of cake and whoever enjoyed Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy.

Crash Bandicoot! Well I remember playing in a simulator on PC back in middle school. And that Nitro crate triggers instant death is always on the back of my head. Why, is Nitro that deadly to bandicoots? At least not nitrogen.

The trilogy was released in 2017, I played through around 15 levels and feel it is a bit outdated for today's standard, repeated, not interesting, with few excitement offered and the boss fight is not challenging. The most challenging thing in the game might be to land precisely - too many times I couldn't see well and ended up dropping out of the map.

Many classic platformers face this same issue - "outdated for today's standard", they were once "One of a kind" games but now it's hard to pick a virtue from them, making it hard to keep an old IP alive. Like the Pokémon games, I'm not saying recent releases are bad, but the popularity of Palworld gives insights that old games should adjust/ involve new elements to keep up, otherwise there will be a day that they lose all the fan base.

Steelrising has been on my wishlist for a while, thanks to the Humble Choice for a cheap key.

I used to think this game is a souls-like game, but not really when I started playing, as Aegis is a female robot and the protagonist can take a few heavy hits before death, meaning mistakes are tolerable. My previous and also the last souls-like game was Sekiro, which had my pride deeply wounded. Steelrising, on the other hand, is quite acceptable for people like me with almost no experience. But still with the shadow of Sekiro I fled as much as I could, desperately looking for saving points, which honestly, should be more.

What I like about the game is the background story, a paralleled world during the French Revolution. Games with a fantasy based on real events also includes GreedFall, The Council etc., Steelrising has potential but during my gameplay, besides robots being massacre machines I don't see real stories but pieces hits here and there, including abolition of slavery and saving the kids princes, making the paralleled story feels a bit like a stunt. But the map design with all the decorations is decent, reminds me of some palaces and gardens in Spain (rather than France).

Most combats are avoidable, enemies won't chase too far and it is easy to escape when dash ability is earned. I am not confident choosing the Class at the beginning, since there's no turning back I stick with the game cover so to be a Dancer, I can't say it is the right choice but those waving/shielding fan actions look fabulous, even they don't do much damage and level up weapons take a long way, not to mention the weapon type is scarce. After a few encounters it comes to me that this game is not very well balanced - regular enemies are more painful than the boss. Fighting those I have to fight and ignore the rest is totally doable.

Steelrising offers big places to explore, from broken cities to palaces to dungeons and gardens, if not for all the fighting elements this game could be an interesting walking sim. Travelling between places is not that convenient but if you have extra spares, a token that teleports you to the nearest save point or direct to the carriage is always useful.

Steelrising offers a unique way to show waypoint: to have Aegis raises her arm to point the direction. Most of the time I don't get lost, until I entered the garden to the observatory - not only the garden itself is a maze, but I run into a terrible bug here which I opened the chest contains an mission note about the creator of Aegis was captured in the the Bastille, but the process didn't get updated. The waypoint still leads to the chest but the chest is opened and empty. This bug took me over an hour wandering around for nothing trying to see what's wrong, I read all the posts online but all were about can't find the key rather than the mission didn't get updated, it seems I ran into a one of a kind bug. At the end I gave up and decided to spend all the money before I quit and when I bought a useless new pants I triggered the game mystery system, got the main mission updated in the store so as to proceed with the rest of the game. But again, some side missions are still bugged when I stand with 0 meters  before the event item yet nothing happens.

The final boss fight is too easy and not satisfying, the end of the game is wrapped too fast without giving a proper answer. And I am not happy that the saving file is wasted once you finish the game, no way to reload previous unfinished side missions (Though I doubt I'd run into bugs again). Steelrising has multiple endings but I am not going to try unlocking more. I hesitated purchasing the DLC, and eventually walked away upon reading entering the DLC required to play through half of the main game.

Steelrising is worth the cheap key I paid for, but not too many hours. I recommend a fast gameplay to see the interesting places, especially for whoever appreciates European architecture.

Fun, and relaxing... Well, not that relaxing, the sword fight can be intense if you face more than 2 enemies.

I bought this game mainly because of the bright color and likeable characters, turned out to be a nice mini-Prince of Persia game with a female protagonist, decent sword fights and good humor. 1/2 of the time you do wall jumps to reach the other side, the character will automatically swing on the rods, meaning you won't miss a grip nor lose your way. The rest 1/2 will be sword fights so prepare to polish your skill.

I need to focus on attack and counter because this part of the game is serious, missing a few times meaning face down on the floor. Luckily, the sword fight is not too hard to master, and the environment contributed a lot to the fun, like you could kick enemies into river/into a weapon rack/down the stairs, or use cannon on them (LOL), loose the rope to drop chandeliers on them etc, there are a variety of items can be useful and to interact with. What's more, most lines are designed to be funny even during combats, enemies being defeated would say "I wish I never got up this morning" and there are unexpected actions to discover like you can set fire on the evil Duke's paints.

The gameplay is a bit short with a limited kind of enemies, but okay for a nice little game.

Nice game.

MULLET MADJACK is not a rhythm game, even the music gives some strong beats. What makes this game stand out from regular FPS is the health bar is measured by time. You are given 10 seconds to live, to refill it you need to kill before time runs out, a good concept similar to 2011's movie In Time.

I‘ve beaten the campaign on normal difficulty, the key point is NOT to rush through enemies . Sure time is limited, but don't forget to keep your pace, try to eliminate enemies rather than escape your way through, because every hit will deduct your valuable time. My advice is take this game as a regular FPS, clean the area (or most of the enemies) before moving on to the next, but in a timely manner. 10 seconds is not that short, you can use a timer to have a good feeling if you are unsure, just do not panic. Good luck.

At the end I made it to 30+ floors in the prize claiming section, not knowing it is actually an endless run, and eventually rewarded a sneaker as promised. For the story mode, every 10 floors you will face a boss, the boss fight is easy compared to 10 floors of non-stopping killing. This is intense even if each floor is only 30-50 seconds long, but with the ticking clock and groups of enemies, concentration is required to beat a level, especially a gameover punishing player to restart from floor 1. At the end of each floor you can choose 1 out of 3 temp upgrades ranging from new/upgrade weapon to abilities like double jump, special kill (headshot/crotch kill!!!) for extra time, or environment helper, or boss life deduction etc., this adds a taste of raffle. My favorite goes to that tier 3 Uzi which offers unlimited ammo. This is as good as a cheat to largely reduce the difficulty, because loading takes time, and time is everything in this game.

The campaign is 3 hours long, kudos to devs for not extending it into a 9 hours gameplay because after 30 floors there's nothing new, the rest are just refine your skill, repeat each level to prepare the final boss fight on the 90th floor. The campaign ended before I tried out every upgrade and got bored. $19.99 can be expensive for a 3-hour game, but the excitement is worth it.
