I'm actually not recommending this, unless you're a fan of the series! If this is your first time entry to the franchise(s), characters etc. then please watch the movies first and play the older AvP games! Let's start with positives:

- Visually it looks good, it's 11 years old at this point, but it still looks and runs fine.
- Playing as Predator is super fun and the best part of the game.
- Sound effects and sound design.
- There are some genuine atmospheric and creepy moments, especially in the Marine campaign.
- Executions by Alien and Predator are great and well made.

That's about it. Now for the baaaad:

- Overall lack of polish. Some animations look super janky, especially the aliens movement.
- So you have 3 campaigns, you can play as Alien, Predator and Marine. That sounds cool, but what I don't like is that all of them are "same place, different POV" approach. Don't like that, feels like I'm playing the same campaign over and over.
- Game is really short, especially the Alien campaign. Took me around 6 hours, on hardest difficulty, it would have take me a lot shorter if I played on easier setting.
- The hardest difficulty is just garbage. It's Nightmare, basically hard but with no checkpoints, so if you die at the end of the level, you start that level all over again (thankfully it's not permanent death). Especially the Marine campaign, the last 2 levels are some of the most bs levels I've ever played. Sometimes I'll die instantly with 1 hit and sometimes it takes them dozens of hits to kill me, it's totally random. Sometimes I even died for no reason, I'll kill the Alien and somehow I'll die (it's not the acid,no). At the same time, explosives don't even phase enemies, which is crap. (Disclaimer, I'm achievement hunter, that's why I do these hardest difficulties)
- AI is horrible, being your teammates or enemies. I would hide as Alien, and sometimes marines would just walk to me, while turned back to me, it's like they want me to kill them.
- Some of the weapons and characters are just overpowered, it's not even funny. Alien as a whole is OP, Predator's invisibility (it's permanent, unless you stand on water) + dumb AI makes it that you can skip most of the levels, Predator's movement in general (you can jump around really high), Predator's spear one shots almost everything and you have infinite ammo, Marine's sniper rifle one shots almost everything and you have tons of ammo for it.
- Story is nothing special, similar to the movie. I mean, meeeh, really generic and nothing special.
- Missed opportunity for more horror. I don't like how most of these games start out really good and creepy, but they drop that really fast and just go full action till the very end. Marine campaign is supposed to be that, but wish it had more of those moments.
- I have to talk about one level specifically, second to last on Marine campaign. It. just. sucks!
So you and your buddy Tequilla (what a name) need to get inside this base, because she's been impregnated by the face huger, and you need to get it out of her. But the whole damn level, she just casually walks around, like yeah I have an alien inside me that's gonna bust out any time, but I'm just gonna walk as slowly as I can. It's super annoying, especially when it's one of the hardest levels in the game and you die on hardest difficulty and you need to replay it over and over. Then after some time, you fail to actually get it out of her, so you and the other chick that betrays Weyland (I guess, idk) helps you to put her into cryo sleep, but all the time over that cutscene, "sad" music is playing to make you care about her, but you don't care a single bit lmao. And that other chick is actually android, and I hate the stupid dialogue in this game, you meet her for the first time and she's like "And please, don't call me artificial person, I prefer the term android" while your character is mute (never talks). It's sooooo stupid. First half of this level is basically story, other half is shooting and action. Horrible, mix of aliens and androids, androids are sponges and can kill you in single burst shot, while aliens are big in numbers. So you fight through the level, and at the end is the boss, which is just garbage. You fight this medium sized queen like alien, and next to him are coming few more regular aliens, and it just sucks. Add the janky and fast movement of aliens, and you kill them in close range, acid splash can one shot you, while the big mf is charging you at the same time. It just sucks.
- Oh yeah, the glory kills, while cool looking, are useless if there is more than 1 enemy around you, because animations are super, super slow and you can't do anything, while enemies can blast you and kill you. Animations in general are slower, not just kills, but basic ones like pressing something or setting up.
- Alien is the weakest campaign of them 3, and the shortest. There's a speed run of like 12 minutes to complete it lol
- Some minor bugs I've encountered like enemies will bug out and won't respond, or dead bodies clips through floor, or physics would screw over etc.

That's about it. Multiplayer is dead, so I can't comment on it, although some folks are praising it that it was great back in the day.
Like I've said, I don't recommend this game to anyone unless you're a hardcore fan of the franchise. Game is super generic, the relic of the time. It came out in 2010 and it damn well stayed there.

"Welcome to Mars!"

Man, this game... I remember like it was yesterday, the hype between this and Half-Life 2 was monumental. 2004 was such a superb year for gaming (Imo the best one). I was an avid gamer (still am) back in the day and would collect 3-4 versions of local gaming magazines, just to read everything about this game. Had even big ass poster in my room (sadly lost it). I never played Doom game before, I never got into it because it was kinda "retro" looking for me and it never grabbed me. So this was my first entry to the franchise and I was super excited and impressed by the way it looked, both this and Half-Life 2. I remember downloading demo for this game, it was like first level of the game only. On high settings I was getting super super low fps, barely in single digits haha. But I was still impressed, especially by the lightning. So this game forced me to buy a new PC, which I burned 2-3k$ for it (a damn lot), but I got a beast of a PC and I could easily run this game.

That's my little history with the game and how I got into it. I've replayed the game last night on Hard and today on Easy, haven't played it since 2018. Lets get into the positives:

- Visually sometimes game is still impressive, especially the shadows and lightning. Character models and some textures are not great tho and sometimes animations are janky, but game has this art style that holds it up in most cases.
- Atmosphere is amazing, best part is the build up and the moment when all hell (pun intended) breaks loose. They nailed it perfectly, the radio screams, the evil laughs, explosions, ambient sounds etc. It's so perfectly done and it really makes it terrifying when you see throughout the game results of all that.
- Most of the weapons are fine, effective and serve their purpose, except the cursed one, which I'll talk about later.
- Some of the enemy designs are really great and twisted looking.
- Level design is good, it's 95% indoors, but all the tech and industrial parts are well made and differentiate from each other more or less. I especially love the outside look of Mars, it's dark and windy and you don't like being outside (in a good, spooky way).
- Sound design is superb, the ambient music, the demons, some of the weapons (plasma rifle best reload sound effect like.. ever!), main menu theme is awesome as f***.
- Hell level. I've played all Doom games at this point, and this game has the best hell level out of all of them. It's so bizzare, disturbing, weird. almost alien-like and twisted. Sadly it's not too long, but still it nails it.
- Game is long (first time on harder difficulty should take you up to 8-10 hours), even though I like that it's long, I do feel like campaign is a little bloated and could use some cutting here and there.
- Overall, a really well polished quality, with no bugs or issues on my end.

Now, to the less positive stuff:

- I've mentioned the monster designs, some of them just suck and look bad. Especially compared to the older games, they butchered them (Cacodemon wtf?).
- Some of the weapons just sound like garbage, like pistol, shotgun, smg... They sound so weak and dry.
- Boss fights are a joke, the only hardest one is the first, and even he's not that hard.
- Flashlight - a controversial and divisive one. So they made the flashlight as separate object, you must equip it to see in front of you, but you can't have any weapons equipped, so it's constant switching between flashlight and weapons. I mean, I get why they did it and I don't mind it that much, but it is stupid when you think about it. You're in a distant future where teleportation is possible, but you can't have a flashlight mounted to your weapon? It slows the gameplay flow a bit, and I totally understand why people don't like it.
- Ending kinda sucks in my opinion, cliffhanger one but none the less, a lame way to end a game.
- Now for the biggest offender in my opinion - shotgun. I mean, what the f*** Id? How? Why? I mean, you are the masters of shotguns, you perfected them, yet in this game, it's a terrible, RNG weapon that has a ridiculous pellet spread (yet enemy shotgun-er can hit you directly from a mile away). It's design looks bad, it's sound is weak, yet I was still using it most of the time. You probably guess why are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ then? Well that's because of the RNG, sometimes if you are lucky, you can one shot some of the strongest enemies in game, you get lots of ammo for it, it reloads fast.. But you need to stick it's barrel on enemy's ass and hope RNG gods will grant you a kill, because sometimes it took me 2 to even 3 freaking shots from the melee range to kill a damn imp. It's horrible, you should really try it and you will almost instantly get what I mean.
- This is not criticism but kind of a rant, but I wish we'd seen more of this world the Doom 3 creates. I would love more games, more different angles and everything about this setting. I just love it, but that's never gonna happen.

I honestly don't have much bad stuff to say about this game. I really, really love this game, it has a soft spot in my heart. It's not in my top 10 games ever, but it's damn close. It's such a shame tho this game is considered the black sheep of the franchise. If it didn't have a Doom name attached to it, it would be praised as a masterpiece. But at the same time, I think it wouldn't be talked about to this day if it wasn't called Doom, so I guess it's a good trade off. Most usual comment I see about it is "It's a great game, but a bad Doom game" which I totally see why, but I still don't agree with it. Please give this game a try, if you've played rest of the Doom games, be prepared for something slower and more "survival" horror like.

And yeah, don't try the BFG edition (came out in 2012) which brought so many stupid changes over vanilla version. Yeah, it's super accessible and the most stable version, but still, go for the vanilla first. If nothing, try BFG edition for the Lost Mission (deleted levels from original game).

"Become my soul reaver... my angel of death!"

Where do I begin with this masterpiece of a game. I remember when I got PS 1 magazine, which came with a CD full of demo games, one of them was this. That's the first time ever I played it and was super intrigued from the very start. I was like 7 years old at the time. Then the full game came out and I immediately fall in love with it! I didn't had a memory card back then, so I was replaying it over and over and over, because I couldn't save my progress, but I still loved it no matter what.
Since then I've replayed it a dozen of times and now as of writing this review, I've replayed it and finished it last night.

First off, this game has the best opening FMV I've ever seen. I've played hundreds of games over my life and not a single one comes close to this. The way it was shot, the amazing music, all the characters, voice acting, world building, it's just pure perfection and every time I replay the game, I never skip it and always get chills.
Since I've mentioned music, soundtrack for this game is just great, so much atmosphere conveyed into it, unique, twisted and interesting (even have it on my phone and listen to it often when I go for a walk).
Voice acting is on another level and this game, at that time where voice acting was usually not taken very seriously, took it super seriously and every one nails their roles, especially Michael Bell and Simon Templeman. Especially how dialogue is very "shakespearean" like, you just enjoy listening these characters talk to each other or narrating the plot. Story and world building is great, you really get engaged into this twisted world that has changed over the millenium. Atmosphere is top notch, one of the main things I prefer this one over sequels. As far as combat goes, it's serviceable, I mean nothing ground breaking, but it serves it's purpose. Games has lots of puzzles, which are not hard and you can get them pretty fast if you just think for a minute, some of them are even super obvious. Game overall is not that difficult, you basically can't die, if you lose your full health, you get to the spectral realm and if you lose your health there, you just get back to the beginning of the game (not losing progress no worries). Which brings me to probably most unique mechanic: you can shift between spectral and physical realm. All the environment changes depending on which realm are you, and that is used often in puzzle solving or moving through zones. Boss fights are super easy tho and they are more of a puzzle solve, than actual fighting, it's more about the exchanges between characters. I won't spoil anything else, I could go on and on about the positives, but I'll leave rest untold, for more surprises. Visually, game is dated, but still has some art style that doesn't makes it terrible looking, and for that time, it was ahead of the time, especially when you consider that this game has ZERO loading screens, which is impressive on its own.

All that being said, games has issues of course, no game is perfect. As for me, the biggest issue I have is probably most have/will have, it's the camera and not so great controls. It sometimes gets super frustrating when you are platforming or moving blocks (oh trust me you will hate those block puzzles, I'm used to them so I don't mind them that much). For the newcomers, it might be kinda hard to know where to go or what to do, because there's no map, cursor, compass or anything like that in the game. And the game is semi-open world (but mostly linear), and the only indication you get where to go next is, for example, after boss fight, you'll be told like "On the east of that and that, there will be that place where you need to go" and that's it. Literally that's all the hint you get, no menu to open up and see objective, nothing. You are forced to explore and think logically where you would need to go. It's not that hard as it sounds, but it can get off putting for newcomers. Box puzzles can get repetitive too for the newcomers.

This game is really unique gem, it's sad that franchise is basically dead nowadays, it 100% deserves a "RE2 type" remake. It's not really that much of a game how it is experience, I don't know. It's just something special and I recommend it to everyone. It has its flaws, but the good parts definitely over shadow the bad parts, I mean just voice acting alone does that. It has a special place in my heart and its easily in my top 10 games off all time! I try to replay it once every year at least, and as I was replaying it these last 2 days, I really really enjoyed it, if I could experience it again for the first time, I would love it.

Buy it and enjoy!

Amazing remake of one of the best games ever made!

For those who aren't fans of dated graphics, but want to experience Half-Life world, this is it! Thought I still recommend playing through the original.

As a long time Soul Reaver fan, being one of my best games ever made, I've finally decided to try this one for the first time.

I like the atmosphere, the omnious ambient music, of course the voice acting, Kain is fantastic and awesome.

But after 2 and a half hours of playing it, I just can't bother to finish it because how controls are abysmal-y terrible. I mean, good God, do they suck. So janky and non responsive, Kain's movement and using the abilities and such. Now I don't know if that has something to do with Steam version or it's always been the issue. And yeah, game is broken and you need to go to guides to get it running properly.
Best example would be the first boss fight, it's like playing a chess. It feels like combat is on the "moves", you just can't avoid something in split second because of how unresponsive controls are and you end up getting hit. So it ends up on trial and error, remember his patterns and then you have a chance.
Of course there are lots of cut scenes and dialogue, which I don't mind for the first time, but they are not skipable. Not a single one, even the ones where it shows the door opening or something like that. It gets old super fast when you die repeatedly on some part, and then you have to watch the same crap over and over. I hate that and I will always hate it.

There's no any indications where to go or any map, but thankfully game is super linear, world is bare bones empty, there's not any other interaction except where you need to go. Combat is super simple, you literally spam the attack button and that's it, but like I said, it all comes down to terrible controls and movement, so it's not that enjoyable, but thankfully not complicated. Oh, I almost forgot the minor nitpick, in the tutorial level, game literally tells you "Press Jump to jump." I'm not kidding. And for everything that tutorial "teaches" you, you need to pause and check keybindings to see what the f*** do you actually need to press.

I'm super dissapointed honestly, I expected this to be a great game like Soul Reaver is, but it's worse. I mean, SR is known for not so great controls, and that game has it miles better than this ♥♥♥♥. And this one came out 3 years later!

I just don't have the nerves to complete this, but maybe one day... Will still give it a recommendation because I'm biased towards this franchise, but beware that this is a 19 years old game, so be in a mood for that if you want to try it out! Don't expect modern control schemes and slick movement and instant response.

My first entry to Borderlands franchise and I really enjoyed it!

Pros:
- Art style and environments look beautiful, some of the landscapes are incredible to look at.
- Gameplay is fun and responsive for the most part.
- Voice acting is mostly great, especially Jack's VA. He did a fantastic job.
- DLC is fantastic, so unique.
- Some of the quests are really funny, there are some great bits and moments.

Cons:
- Story is meh, nothing special, but I guess this just serves as a bridge between the first and second game, so I get it.
- Some of the characters are sooooo annoying and not interesting (yelling and screaming ≠ funny).
- Somewhat repetitive gameplay.
- Some minor bugs I've encountered.

Overall, not much to it, but still fun and enjoyable game.

A little hidden gem, that sadly flew under the radar at the time of release.

A really satisfying stealth game, with great protagonist, great level design, interesting world and creatures, but with sometimes crappy and not responsive controls and at some places not so great graphics.
Overall, don't have any major flaws with it, I really enjoyed it.

Recommended.

This game is pure garbage. Plain and simple.

Done it only because I'm completionist and got this from some random bundle long ago... Otherwise would never even touch it.

This game is incredible!

One of the best games I've ever played, and best I've played in recent years. One of the few games I've enjoyed 100% from start to finish. It looks incredible, presentation is top notch, voice acting is great, gameplay is superb, controls are super smooth and responsive, BT is awesome and your chemistry with him works perfectly... literally everything works!
Honest to God I just can't find any flaw in this game, maybe only gripe would be that it's sadly short (finished it in 5 hours on hardest difficulty).
I can't believe why this game is not more popular, this is a super polished, well made and crafted campaign.
100% recommended!

And yeah, release the 3rd game pretty please?! Don't "Half-life" it!
